The Grand Old Party or the Republican Party, which is politically strong since 1928, comprises black politicians, lawyers, athletes, and celebrities. Black republicans including Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell, Zora Neale, and Don King believe in American conservatism. Condoleeza Rice is a registered republican and the 1st black female to serve as the Secretary of State. Collin Powell, the American statesman and a retired general in the United States Army is one of the famous black liberal republicans. Zora Neale, an anthropologist and novelist by profession; Michael Steele, the first black Republican National Committee Chairman; Allen West, the first black Republican congressman; Clarence Thomas, the Supreme Court Justice, and Mychal S. Massie, the National Chairman of the conservative black think tank, Project 21 are some of the notable black republicans who supported the republican party.
