Pagels, who is credited with conducting extensive research into Gnosticism and early Christianity, came up with the influential book The Gnostic Gospels. The book has been named among the 100 best books of the 20th century by Modern Library.

Catharina Lodders is a Dutch beauty queen and model best known for winning the Miss World pageant in 1962, thus becoming the second woman from the Netherlands to win the prestigious title after Corine Rottschafer in 1959. Shannon Lucid once held the record for the longest space stay by any woman and by any American. Born in China, to missionaries, she was imprisoned by the Japanese, along with her parents, as an infant. The family then moved to the U.S., where Lucid studied at the University of Oklahoma.
