Famous American Hard Rock Singers

Singer, songwriter, and musician Chris Cornell rose to fame as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. One of the key figures of the 1990s grunge movement, he also had a successful solo career. Unfortunately, he suffered from depression and died of suicide at the peak of his career.

Singer, songwriter, and musician Chester Bennington rose to prominence as the lead vocalist for the band, Linkin Park. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest rock vocalists of his generation. He possessed a three-octave tenor vocal range that showed tremendous durability for the entirety of his career. He died of suicide in 2017.

Red Hot Chili Peppers co-founder and vocalist Anthony Kiedis released 11 rock albums with his band, focusing on issues such as sex, drugs, and loss. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has struggled with drug issues but has been drug-free since 2000. His memoir, Scar Tissue, became a bestseller.

Taylor Momsen is an American model, singer-songwriter, and former actress. She started her career as a child actress and became famous for playing Cindy Lou Who in the comedy film How the Grinch Stole Christmas. She then quit acting to focus on music; over the years, she has been contributing to the success of the rock band The Pretty Reckless.

The founding member of the popular heavy metal band White Zombie, Rob Zombie is an American singer-songwriter, voice actor, and filmmaker. Having incorporated horror and sci-fi themes into his music and lyrics from the beginning of his career, Zombie often entertains his audience visually in his live shows; he is credited with popularizing shock rock theatricality.

American Actor, Jack Black is known for his comedic performances. His notable films include High Fidelity, Shallow Hal, School of Rock and Bernie. His voice acting in animated film series Kung Fu Panda and video game Brütal Legend have also earned him accolades. Additionally, he has co-founded Grammy Award winning rock band, Tenacious D and launched his You Tube channel.

David Lee Roth is an American rock singer, songwriter, musician, and former radio personality. Renowned for his energetic stage persona, Roth was a long-time member of the popular hard rock band Van Halen where he served as the lead singer. In 2007, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Singer-songwriter and musician Bret Michaels first gained fame as the frontman of the rock band Poison. He also performs as a solo artist and has released many albums. He is an occasional actor as well and has appeared in numerous films and TV shows.  

Andy Biersack is an American pianist and singer-songwriter. He is credited with founding a rock band named Black Veil Brides where he also serves as the lead vocalist. In 2011, Biersack was mentioned in Revolver magazine's 100 Greatest Living Rock Stars list. In 2012, he was ranked fourth in Kerrang magazine's 50 Greatest Rock Stars in the World Today list.

Former lead singer of the hard-rock band Flyleaf, Lacey Sturm is known for her trademark screams and her tracks such as I'm So Sick and All Around Me. Her album Life Screams made her the first solo female performer to top the hard-rock album charts. She has also penned a memoir.

Gregg Rolie is a singer and keyboardist. He gained international popularity as the frontman of the bands Santana and Journey. He was a co-founder of both as well. He currently performs with his Gregg Rolie Band and also collaborates with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. Rolie has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. 

Brent Smith is a singer best known as the founder and frontman of the rock band Shinedown. He was just a small child when he started showing a keen interest in music. As a teenager, he launched his own band and enjoyed moderate success. He later founded Shinedown. The band has sold more than 10 million records.  

Danny Koker, or The Count, gained fame with the automotive reality show Counting Cars, which is considered a spin-off of the legendary show Pawn Stars. Apart from being an avid car collector, Koker is also a musician and an entrepreneur who owns a restaurant, a recording studio, and a tattoo parlor.
