Dubbed by the media as ‘the most infamous house guest’ Kato Kaelin is an American actor, TV and radio personality who shot to fame because of his involvement in the dramatic O. J. Simpson double murder case. Having struggled with bullying and threats because of being the witness in the murder trial, all his life, Kato Kaelin has learnt to laugh at himself and take things easy, so much so that his Instagram bio reads ‘Former house guest. Current adult, living behind my own house’. In a comedy of errors format, Kato’s life was hugely affected with him taking the stand, as the media attention pushed him into the spot light. O. J. Simpsons Case Witness Controversy

Kato Kaelin, who was then an aspiring actor, was friends with Nicole Brown Simpson and eventually because of that connection, had started living on the property of O. J. Simpson in 1993 January. On the day of the murder, he had had dinner with O. J. Simpson at McDonalds, and later helped him load his luggage in the limousine while he left the premises.

Although during the trial, Kato Kaeline was declared a hostile witness and his testimony didn’t really help with a definitive lead in the case, Kato has gone on to say that he believed O. J. was guilty, but he did not have any way to prove so.

With the controversy surrounding the case, apparently Kato on the advice of his lawyer backed out of a book deal with author Marc Eliot. Marc had conducted interviews with Kato and penned a biographical book called Kato Kaelin: The Whole Truth, which was ultimately released in June 1995, without having Kato’s name as the co-author.

In 1999, Kato Kaelin won a 15 million US Dollars in an out of court settlement with Globe Communications because of a headline they had printed about him in their magazine National Examiner. The caption said ‘Cops Think Kato Did It’, which implied that Kato was responsible for the murders. Kato had sued the publishers and won, making this a landmark judgement.
