Joel Edgerton is an Australian actor and filmmaker best known for his work in ‘Zero Dark Thirty.’ He is considered one of the best Australian actors ever to work in Hollywood. Hailing from an ordinary family in New South Wales, the actor harbored big dreams from a young age. He decided to become an actor as a teenager and proceeded to study at Nepean Drama School at the University of Western Sydney to formally hone his acting skills. Joel initially started acting in short films at the age of 22. For several years, he struggled to make his mark in his chosen field but was unable to do so. Eventually, he started writing scripts for short films and started gaining recognition. His career as an actor received a massive boost after he played Owen Lars in the movie ‘Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.’ He continued working hard over the ensuing years and was finally able to establish himself as a successful actor cum filmmaker in Hollywood. As an individual, he is a very benevolent person and has been actively involved with The Fred Hollows Foundation from the past many years.

Childhood & Early Life
Joel Edgerton was born on June 23, 1974 in Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia as the second son of Michael and Marianne Edgerton. His father was a very successful solicitor and a famous property developer. He has a brother named Nash Edgerton who is also in the film industry.
He went to Hills Grammar School from where he graduated in 1991. Since he had an interest in acting from an early age, he went to the University of Western Sydney to attend the Nepean Drama School. Joel was a bright student in the drama school and soon went on to act in the Sydney Theatre Company in various types of stage productions.

Joel Edgerton is both an actor and filmmaker. His first ever stint as an actor was in a short film named ‘Loaded’ that was released in the year 1996. He produced and acted in many movies after that and his first big break came in ‘Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones’ (2002) where he played the character of Owen Tars.
He reprised the role in ‘Star Wars Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’ in 2005. Both movies went on to become the biggest grossers in their respective years of release and have now become epics.
