Cornelio Vega Jr. followed in the footsteps of his father, Cornelio Vega, Sr., into music. As a child, Cornelio came under the tutelage of Vega, Sr. and learnt to play the guitar, the accordion, bass, and the drums. In 2014, guided by his father, Cornelio started his professional music career as the second vocalist of the Mexican group ‘Cornelio Vega y Su Dinastia,’ which was formed by his father. The repertoire of the group originally encompassed content by Vega, Sr. However, with time, Cornelio proved his mettle with his renditions of cumbias and corridos. The norteño music of Cornelio and that of the group also included mariachis and romanticas.

Cornelio launched his ‘YouTube’ channel on August 19, 2015. He started posting songs sung by him, accompanied by music on his guitar. With time, his songs started gaining positive feedback and garnering thousands of views. He became an internet music sensation while still in his teens. Two of his early tracks that later earned millions of views were ‘A Partir de Hoy’ and ‘Te Fuiste con El.’ Cornelio composed the track ‘Adicto a Ti’ in 2015. It was rearranged and recorded by his father. The single became quite a hit with radio listeners and eventually led Cornelio to become the lead vocalist of ‘Dinastia.’ In early 2016, the young talent appeared on the reality TV talent competition ‘Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento,’ where he became a favorite. Later that year, he uploaded a video of the original song ‘El Primero.’ By the end of the year, the song gained more than 10 million views and led Cornelio to obtain a record deal with ‘Gerencia 360.’ Many consider ‘El Primero’ as one of his best singles. ‘Dinastia’s debut album, titled ‘Problema,’ was released in late 2017.

Over the years, Cornelio has succeeded in gaining considerable fame through various social-media platforms. His ‘YouTube’ channel has so far succeeded in accumulating more than a million subscribers and an enviable count of over 125 million views. He has also gained more than 1.7 million followers on his ‘Instagram’ account, ‘corneliovega,’ and over 45 thousand followers on his ‘Twitter’ account, ‘corneliovegajr.’

Cornelio Vega Jr. was born on April 9, 1999, in Mexico City, Sonora, in Mexico, to noted Mexican musician Cornelio Vega Sr. Not much is known about Cornelio’s mother, his early life, or his education. Cornelio hails from a family with a musical background. The late Mexican banda singer José Sergio Vega Cuamea, better known as “El Shaka,” was Cornelio’s uncle. His other uncles, Chuy and Freddy, are also musicians. His younger brother, musician Valentin Vega, is also a member of ‘Dinastia.’ His other brothers, Ramoncito Vega and Santin Vega, are also singers. Cornelio is reportedly single.
