Gaia Wise Biography

Emma Thompson gave birth to Gaia Romilly Wise on December 4, 1999, in England, United Kingdom. Gaia started hogging the limelight very early in her life because of her parents’ celebrity status. She was enrolled at the famous ‘Highgate School’ in North London, where she came to be known as a focused and hardworking student. Gaia was always interested in her mother’s work as an environmentalist and ‘Greenpeace’ activist. But her life changed dramatically in 2014, when she accompanied her mother to the Arctic Circle as part of a ‘Greenpeace’ expedition. After the expedition, Gaia became intrigued about climate change and wanted to join millions of others in their fight against climate change. However, her campaigns against climate change did not go down well with some of her schoolmates, who started bullying her by calling her a ‘hippy.’ This became one of the reasons for Gaia to drop out of school. She was then homeschooled with the help of private tutors after her father built her a ‘school room’ in the midst of their garden.

Gaia Wise loves accompanying her mother to red carpet events and movie premieres. In May 2012, she was seen at the film premiere of Barry Sonnenfeld-directed science fiction entertainer, ‘Men in Black 3.’ On January 12, 2014, Gaia was seen alongside her mother at the 71st ‘Golden Globe Awards,’ which took place at the ‘Beverly Hilton Hotel’ in Beverly Hills, California. In 2014, she once again accompanied Emma Thompson as the mother-daughter duo attended ‘The Critics' Choice Movie Awards.’ In 2016, she became a star attraction when she graced the London premiere of ‘Bridget Jones's Baby.’ Gaia, who accompanied her mother to the red carpet event, appeared in a stunning one-shoulder jumpsuit.

Gaia has also appeared in a couple of films. She made her acting debut in 2008, when she played a minor role in the Joel Hopkins-directed drama film ‘Last Chance Harvey.’ In 2015, she got an opportunity to work with her mother when she was roped in to play Becca in the Ken Kwapis-directed adventure comedy film ‘A Walk in the Woods.’

In 2018, Emma Thompson revealed that her daughter Gaia was sexually assaulted when she was traveling in the ‘London Underground.’ The incident, which took place in 2017, had left Gaia shaken to such an extent that it took her many days to travel in the Tube without feeling nervous. According to Thompson, Gaia, who was groped while traveling in a packed Tube train, was upset that she could not muster the courage to call out the person who was committing the crime. Gaia has an older brother named Tindyebwa Agaba Wise. Tindyebwa, a former child soldier from Rwanda, was adopted by Emma Thompson when he was 16 years old.
