Who is An Da Jeong?
An Da Jeong is a South Korean professional bodybuilder who has gained fame after becoming one of the best female bodybuilders in the world. She recently earned the distinction of winning the top position in the figure division of the 2018 IFBB Romania Muscle Fest Pro competition. Relatively unknown outside South Korea until a couple of years back, she has shot straight to stardom in the world of fitness and bodybuilding since winning the title. Simultaneously, she has been making her mark all over the world by participating in numerous events. The fact that she religiously chronicles her athletic and bodybuilding journey on her Instagram account has only increased the size of her fan base. The social media icon is considered one of the best female athletes that South Korea has produced in recent times. Her journey and popularity are now being compared to that of the sensational Korean bodybuilding beast Hwang Chul-soon.
Although An Da Jeong’s name remained virtually unheard of outside South Korea until recently, she has been a professional athlete for years now. She has been posting regularly on her Instagram account since December 20, 2014. Her Asian cute looks combined with a killer body have helped her gain a steady following on the photo-sharing app. Her ever-growing follower base has already crossed 53k, and there seems to be no looking back for her influence on social media. Perhaps what has endeared her to fitness and bodybuilding enthusiasts is the fact that she started off her journey as an average girl who was trying to build her confidence through fitness and bodybuilding. Her Instagram posts from mid-2015 show her as a skinny girl who was striving for a more muscular physique.
Inspired by fitness icons like Hwang Chul-soon, An Da Jeong took to bodybuilding like fish to water. In September 2015, she competed in two of her first professional bodybuilding competitions, in which she debuted her more muscular look on stage. Her transformation was extraordinary, and it caught the eye of bodybuilding federations in South Korea. She also started to build her online presence on Instagram by posting about her diet plans, day-to-day life, and the commitment that she was showing toward her fitness regime.
In April 2016, An Da Jeong won the bronze in the Nabba WFF Korea Championship, which only added to her credibility as a bodybuilder. She then went on to compete and get one of the top positions in the Muscle Mania competition held on April 29, 2016, in the medium figure bodybuilding category. She continued her successful stint by winning the Nabba WFF Korea Novice Classic competition on May 14, 2016. In 2017, she competed as a bodybuilder in multiple events like the prestigious Nabba WFF Korea Busan open and the Nabba Miss Tone Figure Grand Prix, which was held on July 2, 2017. By the end of the year, An Da Jeong was on her way to international stardom as her online fan base grew exponentially, thanks to the popularity of her Instagram account.
An Da Jeong started 2018 with a bang by competing in the Fitness Star National League competition in Seoul in March. Although she was competing and winning many events in her own country, self-doubt had started to creep in her mind. Like any other professional sport, the world of bodybuilding is extremely competitive and maintaining the physique all-year-round on a professional athletic level takes its toll, both mentally and physically. However, with the support of her friends, fans and sheer hard work, An Da Jeong turned things around and participated in the 2018 Fitness Star Incheon competition. In July 2018, she made her international debut by participating in a competition in Singapore. She then went on to win the Muscle Contest Vietnam on August 18, 2018. It was around this time that she also received her ‘IFBB’ pro card, which made her a professional bodybuilder worldwide. Perhaps her biggest achievement to date, which marked her arrival on the global bodybuilding scene, came in November 2018, when she won the 2018 IFBB Romania Muscle Fest Pro. This qualified her to compete at the prestigious Figure Olympia event in 2019.
