Childhood & Early Life
Alex Sensation was born Javier Alexander Salazar on April 22, 1979, in Bogotá, Colombia. When he was a kid, he moved to the United States of America along with his family. Drawing inspiration from his older brother, who worked as a DJ, Sensation started developing a passion for music at a young age. Thanks to his Colombian roots, he grew up listening to Salsa and Cumbia. At the age of 16, he started collecting records and began working at various clubs. By the time he was 17, he was working at the popular nightclub ‘Copacabana.’ Interestingly, he deceived the club’s management by claiming that he was 19 years old, in order to work at the club. While working at ‘Copacabana,’ he met Tony Luna, who was working as a programmer for ‘Caliente 105.9 FM.’ Luna gave him an opportunity to work as a mixer for ‘Caliente 105.9 FM,’ which turned out to be his big breakthrough.
