Stacy Keach, born as Walter Stacy Keach Jr., is an American actor mainly known for playing dramatic roles throughout his career, such as a private detective or law enforcement officer. His most recognized role till date is that of detective Mike Hammer which he portrayed in several stand-alone television movies and at least three different TV series during the 1980s and the 1990s. Born to Walter Stacy Keach Sr., an actor and theatre director, and Mary Cain, an actress, Keach graduated from Los Angeles’ Van Nuys High School and later earned two BA degrees from University of California, Berkeley before attending London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Also an accomplished composer and pianist, Keach composed the music for the 2009 movie ‘Imbued.’ He is also known for his work on the stage where he started his professional career. His most prominent theatre performance was in the Off-Broadway production of ‘MacBird’ for which he garnered the first of his three Obie awards. The legendary artiste has been married four times to date. His fourth marriage is to Polish model cum actress Malgosia Tomassi in 1986.

Stacy Keach was born as Walter Stacy Keach Jr. on June 2, 1941 in Savannah, Georgia, USA. His father, Walter Stacy Keach Sr. is a drama teacher, actor and theatre director, and his mother, Mary Cain, is an actress.
He has a brother named James who is an actor as well as a television director. James is married to English actress Jane Seymour.
Keach attended Van Nuys High School and later graduated from University of California, Berkeley with two BA degrees. In 1966, he received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale School of Drama and then went on to study at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Career
One of Stacy Keach's early TV roles was in 1958 in ‘How to Marry a Millionaire’, a syndicated romantic comedy. In 1966, he appeared in the title role in an Off-Broadway anti-war satire titled ‘MacBird’. Three years later, he appeared on Broadway in Arthur Kopit’s ‘Indians’.
In the 1960s, he also starred in Joseph Heller’s play ‘We Bombed in New Haven’ at the Yale Repertory Theatre.
In 1972, the actor featured on the big screen as a rookie policeman in the crime drama flick ‘The New Centurions’ opposite George C. Scott. That year, he also had a role in the boxing film ‘Fat City’, directed by John Huston.
In 1973, his storytelling talent as a narrator garnered worldwide exposure in the Formula One racing documentary ‘Champions Forever’. Keach’s first-ever experience as a television series regular came with the lead role of Lieutenant Ben Logan in the 1975 drama ‘Caribe’.
He played Barabbas in ‘Jesus of Nazareth’, a British-Italian TV miniseries in 1977. This was followed by his roles in the horror flick ‘The Mountain of the Cannibal God’ and in the comedy movie ‘Up in Smoke’.
In the year 1980, Keach appeared as Kane in ‘The Ninth Configuration’, a physiological drama film written and directed by William Peter Blatty. That year, he also gave one of his most convincing performances as Frank James in the western film ‘The Long Riders’.
He featured in a CBS miniseries titled ‘The Blue and the Gray’ as Jonas Steele, a psychic and scout in the American military, in 1982.
From 1989-92, he hosted the syndicated re-enactment show ‘Missing Reward’. He next served as the voice-over narrator of ‘Haunted Lives: True Ghost Stories’.
In 2000, Keach featured as the father of the title character, Ken Titus in Fox's sitcom ‘Titus’. After this, he starred as Henry Pope in the series ‘Prison Break’. He joined the cast of ‘Man with a Plan’ in 2017 as Joe Burns.

Stacy Keach is best known for playing Mike Hammer in the CBS TV series ‘Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer’ (1984-85) as well as ‘The New Mike Hammer’ (1986-87). He then reprised the role in a new syndicated series ‘Mike Hammer, Private Eye’ from 1997 to 1998.
In 1988, the actor starred as Ernest Hemingway in the miniseries ‘Hemingway’. His performance earned him a Golden Globe Award as well as a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
Family & Personal Life
In 1984, Stacy Keach was arrested at Heathrow Airport by London police for possession of cocaine. He eventually served six months in jail where he met a priest. His friendship with the priest led him to convert to Roman Catholicism.
The actor has been married four times. His first three marriages were to Kathryn Baker, Marilyn Aiken and Jill Donahue, respectively.
In 1986, he married Malgosia Tomassi, a Polish fashion model and actress. He has two kids, Karolina and Shannon, from this marriage. In 2015, he became a Polish citizen.
