Peter Gadiot is an English television and film actor, best known for starring in the popular ABC series titled ‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.’ Born and raised in London, Peter was indulged more in sports during his growing up years. He played football and wanted to play it professionally. When it did not turn out as expected, he also thought of joining politics. He became interested in acting when he was 17 years old and joined a local acting school. Childhood & Early Life
Peter Gadiot was born on January 2, 1986, in London, England, to Jules Maria Johannes Ignatius Gadiot and Aurora Gabriela Nava Gadiot. His parents are from Dutch and Mexican descent. He grew up as the youngest child among three children and had an older brother and a sister growing up.
Growing up in London, he was a very athletic kid and was into sports a lot. He played football during his school years. He aspired to become a professional football as a kid. Acting or modelling was not even on his mind while he was growing up as he had no connection whatsoever with the industry.
However, as he himself has put it, he had many attitude problems and was considered to be a bad influence on other kids in the academy. That, along with numerous sports injuries had him leaving the academy and thus, the aspirations of becoming a footballer.
When he let go of football, he developed an interest in chemistry. During his later high school years, he was also beginning to develop interest in politics. At one point he also aspired to become a politician.
But fate had other plans for his career. When he was 17 years old, the family shifted to a new house. One of his neighbours was auditioning for a drama school. Peter befriended him and was thus introduced to the world of drama and acting, which he found attractive. He signed up to a six weeks course at first and following that, he became sure about being an actor.
He began attending the Drama Centre London, one of the best reputed Drama schools in England and participated in many stage productions, further honing his skills. He also began auditioning for roles in films and television.

Career
Peter began his screen acting career in 2010 when he appeared playing a small role as Troy Falconi in the episode titled ‘The Cheating Affair’ of the series titled ‘My Spy Family’.
In the same year, he received a huge break when he appeared playing a supporting role as Stephen Moore in the horror film titled ‘13Hrs’. The film received average reviews and was a moderate box office success.
He had decided to walk a different path compared to other struggling actors and decided to not prefer quantity over the quality of the work that he was getting. He took a three years’ break from acting in 2010 following absence of good roles. In the meantime, he did theatre.
He made his comeback in 2013 with the lead role in the German horror film titled ‘The Forbidden Girl’. The film was met with mixed reviews and did not receive a traditional theatrical release in the country. It was released directly on video.
In the same year, he further appeared playing a small role as Javier in the comedy drama series titled ‘Fresh Meat’. He appeared in 3 episodes of the series. He followed in the same year with another lead role in a feature film titled ‘Hot Mess’, playing Jonathan. The independent film performed averagely on the box office and the critical scale.
Later that year, Peter received a huge break when he was signed to play Cyrus in the fantasy drama series titled ‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’. The series ran for 1 season and 13 episodes and was a critical and commercial success. It was Peter’s most accessible project yet and he enjoyed increased limelight following his stint as Cyrus.
In 2014, Peter further appeared playing a supporting role as Caesar, a former dancer, in the action drama series titled ‘Matador’. The series received critical acclaim but due to some unforeseen reasons, it got cancelled after first season.
He kept on with his tradition of working in off-beat projects that did complete justice to his acting talents. In 2015, he appeared in the mini-series titled ‘Tut’, based on the famous Egyptian pharaoh named Tutankhamun. Peter played Ka, Tut’s close friend and ally in the series which starred Ben Kingsley and Avan Jogia in the lead roles. The three part series was a mixed success, both critically and commercially.
In 2016, he was signed to play one of the main roles as James Valdez in the crime thriller series titled ‘Queen of the South’. For his role in the commercially and critically acclaimed series, Peter won an ‘Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actor’ in 2017.
In 2017, he was signed to play the super-villain named Mister Mxyzptlk in the CW Superhero series titled ‘Supergirl’.
He appeared in a supporting role as ‘Ricky Blane’ in the Netflix art-house supernatural horror film titled ‘Velvet Buzzsaw.’ The film received both critical and commercial acclaim.
He wrote and directed a short film ‘12-17,’ which released in 2014.
Family & Personal Life
Peter Gadiot is well-known for his philanthropic and humanitarian work. He extensively works towards eradication of human trafficking and slavery. In order to support the cause, he once rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, from Caribbean Islands to Africa, with 39 men.
He once ran a 250-kilometer ultra-marathon in the Sahara Desert and finished his campaign by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Peter keeps his private life to himself. He is also not very active on social media.
