Milagros Ninette Corretjer Maldonado, professionally known as Millie Corretjer, is a singer and actress from Puerto Rico. She is married to Mexican-American former professional boxer and fight promoter Oscar De La Hoya. A native of San Juan, Corretjer hails from a prominent family. Her paternal ancestors were originally from Barcelona, Spain. Her paternal grandfather, Juan Antonio Corretjer, was a poet, journalist, and pro-independence activist. She has aspired for a career in the world of glamour since she was a child. At the age of 15, Corretjer became the host of the Puerto Rican television show ‘La Ola Nueva’. In 1995, she put out the album, ‘Sola’, which became a commercial hit. In the ensuing years, she has released two more albums and has become quite popular in various countries of South America. Corretjer and De La Hoya began dating sometime in 2000, and about a year later, in October 2001, they exchanged marriage vows. They have two children together: a son named Oscar Gabriel De La Hoya Corretjer and a daughter named Nina Lauren Ninette De La Hoya Corretjer.

Childhood & Early Life
Born on April 18, 1974, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Corretjer is the daughter of Jesús Francisco Corretjer and Milagros Maldonado. Her paternal grandfather was the renowned poet and journalist Juan Antonio Corretjer, who was a prominent Puerto Rican independence activist. At one point, he served as the Secretary-General of the pro-independence Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. Her ancestors originally hail from Pineda de Mar, Barcelona. Her great-great-grandfather, Antoni Corretjer Caire, relocated to Puerto Rico in the 19th century.

Career
When Corretjer was 15 years old, she landed the opportunity to be the host of the Puerto Rican television show ‘La Ola Nueva’ (The New Wave). In 2000, she appeared in the documentary ‘Guitarra mía’, which paid tribute to the life and work of Puerto Rican artist José Feliciano. She has also been featured in the television miniseries, ‘De La Hoya/Mayweather 24/7’ (2007) and the television movie, ‘The World Awaits: De La Hoya vs. Mayweather’ (2007), which were produced in the weeks leading up to the fight between De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Corretjer is one of the most prominent Puerto Rican singers of recent times. Her music has garnered her fans in Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and other South American countries as well. She has also found popularity in the United States of America.
She released her debut album, ‘Sola’ (Alone), in 1995. It was a commercial success; three of its songs were listed in Billboard charts. The album also contained the Spanish versions of two songs by the late singer Selena, ‘Where Did the Feeling Go?’ (Donde te has ido amor) and ‘Only Love’ (Solo tu). Corretjer received a nomination for a Lo Nuestro Award for Best New Artist for the album.
She put out her second album, ‘Emociones’ (Emotions), in 1997. Two years later, she released her third album, ‘Amar es un Juego’. It was another successful work by Corretjer and garnered her a gold album in Puerto Rico. One of the songs, ‘De Hoy en Adelante' (From Today On) topped the Billboard charts for more than six weeks.
Corretjer is very active on various platforms of social media. She has accounts on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter. In December 2018, she put out her newest single, ‘Parece’, on her YouTube channel.

Relationship with Oscar De La Hoya
Oscar De La Hoya is a retired boxer who was active as a professional from 1992 to 2008. Nicknamed The Golden Boy of Boxing, he won several world titles in six different weight classes and was listed 11th among the best boxers of all time, pound for pound, by BoxRec. As an amateur, he won the lightweight gold medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He established the Golden Boy Promotions in 2002. After retirement, he switched his attention to promoting other fighters. In 2018, he started promoting MMA matches as well.
De La Hoya is incredibly popular both in Mexico and the United States of America. In 2000, he was working on his debut album when he started having issues with singing with more passion. His producer, Rudy Perez, showed him one of his previous works to demonstrate to him how to sing with more passion. Incidentally, it was the music video for Corretjer’s song ‘Una Voz en el Alma’. De La Hoya enquired about the identity of the singer and was told about Corretjer.
De La Hoya subsequently requested Corretjer to model in his next music video. They eventually met at an EMI convention in Texas and soon started dating. On October 5, 2001, they tied the knot in a private ceremony at San Juan.
Corretjer and De La Hoya’s first child, a son whom they named Oscar Gabriel De La Hoya Corretjer, was born on December 29, 2005, in San Juan. They welcomed their daughter, Nina Lauren Ninette De La Hoya Corretjer, on December 29, 2007, exactly two years after the birth of their son. Corretjer is the stepmother to De La Hoya’s two sons from previous relationships, Jacob De La Hoya (born February 18, 1998) and Devon De La Hoya (born November 30, 1998). The family presently resides in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California.
