(Only African-Born World Champion in WWE History)

Birthday: August 14, 1981 (Leo)

Born In: Kumasi, Ghana

Kofi Kingston is a Ghanaian-American professional wrestler. He is signed to WWE under the SmackDown brand, and is a member of ‘The New Day’ group with Big E and Xavier Woods. With multiple championships to his credit, he was ranked the 20th best wrestler by ‘Pro Wrestling Illustrated’ (PWI) in 2013. He has several signature moves that include double backhand chop, flying forearm smash, and somersault plancha. Passionate about wrestling from childhood, he gave up his corporate job to sign with WWE. In the initial days of his career, he promoted himself as being from Jamaica and not from Ghana, as he believed that people would readily accept a person from the land of the famous singer-songwriter, Bob Marley. However, he has now dropped the Jamaican story, and has confirmed that he is from Ghana. Initially, his fans did not accept his group ‘New Day’ with open arms, but soon its appearance on RAW became a highlight of the show. In fact, ‘New Day’ became the longest-reigning tag team champion in WWE history.
