Jason Emmanuel Gould was born on 29 December 1966 in New York City, New York, in the United States. His father is Elliott Gould, a popular Oscar nominated film and television actor. His mother is Barbra Streisand, who is a famous singer-songwriter and actress who has won two Oscars. His parents divorced in 1971.

In 1972, he appeared in his first film as a child actor. The film ‘Up the Sandbox’ was directed by Irvin Kershner. Gould’s role, however, was uncredited.

Initially, he wanted to have his own personal business. However, with the influence of his parents, he changed his mind and decided to pursue a career in films instead.

He played an important role in the 1991 American film ‘The Prince of Tides’ which was based on a novel of the same name by Pat Conroy. The film was directed by his mother Barbra Streisand, who also played the main role. Other actors in the film included Nick Nolte, Blythe Danner, Kate Nelligan, Jeroen Krabbe, Melinda Dillon and George Carlin. The film was appreciated by critics. It was a commercial success, grossing $110 million on a budget of $30 million. It won seven Oscar nominations.
