Childhood & Early Life
Jackson Guthy was born on March 19, 1996, in Los Angeles, California, United States, to Bill and Victoria Guthy. He was raised in California along with his older sister, Ali Guthy. He became interested in music at a young age and started playing piano when he was just four years old. Interestingly, he picked up the piano lessons which were left midway by his sister, who lost interest in playing the musical instrument.
Guthy started writing songs when he was just seven years old. Around the same time, he also started writing his own chords. At the age of 15, he landed an opportunity to perform on the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ He was personally invited by DeGeneres to her show where he performed his debut single, ‘Loving.’

Guthy and Jackson recruited Michael, Rob, Edison, and Nolan to form a rock band called ‘North of Nine.’ Soon after, the band came up with its debut single, ‘We Ride.’ Subsequently, they started working on their extended play ‘Alive.’ Before releasing their EP, Guthy and his band members released a single titled ‘Can It Be You’ that would eventually become part of their EP ‘Alive.’
On February 27, 2015, a live studio version of ‘Can It Be You’ was premiered exclusively by ‘Billboard.’ On March 10, 2015, ‘North of Nine’ released its debut album, 'Alive,' which was executively produced by Gavin Brown and Randall 'Randy' Darius Jackson.
