Fleur East is an English singer-songwriter, dancer, rapper, and fitness model. Her first tryst with fame came through in 2005, when her group ‘Addictiv Ladies’ participated in the television singing competition ‘The X Factor.’ She went solo with the record label ‘Strictly Rhythm.’ She again participated in the eleventh edition of ‘The X Factor’ in 2012 as a solo artist and claimed the runner-up title. Despite being the runner-up, Fleur attracted huge attention as an upcoming international star as well as a new style icon. Fleur’s performance to ‘Uptown Funk’ in the show made her the first X Factor contestant to top the charts on the ‘UK iTunes Store’ chart. In 2015, she was part of the ‘The X Factor Live Tour’ and in the same year, she collaborated with Syco Music to launch her first full-length album ‘Love, Sax and Flashbacks.’ In 2016, Fleur debuted on the US television space with her single ‘Sax,’ which at number three on the UK musical charts. Fleur East is currently working on her latest album, which she apparently plans to release independently by late 2018.

Fleur East was born on October 29, 1987, in London, UK. Her father, Malcom East, is of Englis ancestry, and her mother, Irene Frimpong-Manso, is a Ghanian. Her twin sister, Keshia, is a make-up professional. Fleur grew up amidst acute financial problems and racism.
East is an alumni of Holy Family Technology College and Queen Mary University of London. She holds a university degree in journalism and contemporary history.

Career
In 2005, Fleur East forayed into the world of music as part of the band ‘Addictiv Ladies’ in ‘The X Factor.’ The band dissolved after their elimination from ‘The X Factor’ but Fleur continue to pursue her dream to make it big in the music world.
From 2006 through 2011, Fleur dabbled at various aspects of music such as song writing and performing for various shows while continuing her studies.
In 2011, she met DJ Fresh, a drum-and-bass producer, who employed her as one of the vocalists for his show ‘BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.’
In 2012, Fleur became a part of DJ Fresh’s tour crew, and performed on T4 at the V Festival, iTunes Festival, and Beach Festival. She also appeared in ‘Turn it Up,’ a single by DJ Fresh from his album ‘Nextlevelism.’ The same year, she signed up with ‘Strictly Rhythm’ to release her first single.
In 2013, she appeared in ‘One in a Million’ by Drumsound & Bassline Smith and self-released her first EP titled ‘She’ on the internet for free download. During this time, she also worked as a waitress at Aura Mayfair, a London nightclub, and worked as a fitness model with W Athletic.
In 2014, she made it big in the UK music space by claiming the runner-up title on ‘The X Factor,’ under the mentorship of Simon Cowell. Her performance of ‘Uptown Funk’ topped the UK charts making her the first participant from the show to achieve this feat. Cowell picked her for live performances alongside the eventual winner, Ben Haenow, and another talented singer Jay James.
In 2015, she signed a contract with Syco Music and recorded her debut album with the likes of The Invisible Men, Wayne Hector, TMS, and Jack Splash. In mid-2015, she collaborated with ‘Lipsy London’ to launch her first collection of women’s fashion clothing line.
In 2016, she collaborated with the American record label Columbia Records, and made her debut in the world of music outside the UK.
In 2017, she amicably ended her contract with Syco Music saying that she wanted to make music independently free from the contractual boundaries of a renowned music label.
