Famous Ocean started rapping from a very early age. As a kid, she was influenced by freestyle rappers and started to do her own freestyles. She grew up with her two sisters, Stacie and Hollywood, who are a big part of her singing journey. Famous Ocean started posting her own freestyle videos on her TikTok account. She also used the audio distribution platform SoundCloud to release her music.

The three sisters formed their group Hollywood Dollz and used SoundCloud to release their debut track Too Cute. The track was uploaded in 2017 and fetched over 27 thousand streams. In the search of a bigger audience, the sisters decided to use a more popular platform and switched to YouTube. The use of the video-sharing platform also gave them the opportunity to connect with their followers in a better way.

On September 12, 2017, Famous Ocean and her two sisters uploaded their first track, Big Ole Flex, on YouTube. The video has over 100 thousand views while the audio track on SoundCloud has around 30 thousand streams. The quick response time on YouTube and the ability to reach a wider audience became decisive for the singing sisters and their growing reputation.

Two months after their debut track was released on YouTube, the Hollywood Dollz uploaded another track which featured Famous Ocean. The video, So Groovy Freestyle by Famous Kayla J-LA, featured Famous Ocean and her freestyle performance. It has registered more than 200 thousand views to date.

The sisters changed the name of their channel to Famous Ocean x KungFu on YouTube and continued uploading their videos on a regular basis. In December 2019, a prank video was uploaded on their channel which featured Famous Ocean’s boyfriend. As the title of the video Cheating on My Boyfriend Prank suggested, it was a prank that Famous Ocean pulled off quite brilliantly on her boyfriend. The video has received over 1.2 million views to date.

The music video of the track No Smoke was uploaded in September 2019 and has been viewed over 2.1 million times. Their subscribers have also enjoyed the music video of the song Savage which was uploaded back in August. The most viewed video on their channel is the song Get Active, which has gained over 5.7 million views.

Famous Ocean was born as Kayla on October 8, 2002, in the United States. She has two sisters named Stacie and Hollywood, who play a major role in her professional or personal life.

Famous Ocean was in a relationship with another rapper and budding YouTube star Chris Gone Crazy for a while. Currently, she is in a relationship with singer Luh Kel.
