Brina Palencia is a Honduran-American artist who primarily does voice works for several anime characters. She has an enviable list of varied projects that she has been a part of including several video games and some on camera acting as well. What she enjoys most about voice-acting is the freedom she gets while portraying these characters, since it is not restricted to a particular genre, gender or even species. This fluidity and independence to play whoever she wants to be, is fascinating for her. She works hard and has trained extensively to develop a voice range that sits well with a lot of regular aged female characters, younger female and even young male characters as well. Brina has the ability to modulate and make her voice sound different yet bring about the appropriate emotion required to go with the story line of the shows. What adds to her amazing talents is her singing prowess, she is a magnificent songstress and that gives her an edge over other normal voice-over artists.

Childhood & Early Life
Brina Palencia was born on 13 February 1984 in Oklahoma, USA. However, her childhood was spent shuttling between Oklahoma’s Owasso and Honduras’ port city La Ceiba. She was practically raised by her grandmother and is really close to her. She finally resided in Texas and completed her graduation in 2002 from Weatherford High School. Following this she pursued and earned a B.A. music major degree from UNT (University of North Texas) in 2006.

Career
During her college time Brina Palencia was highly influenced by the ‘Dragon Ball Z’ anime series and started her career as a voice-over actress with the entertainment company Funimation after completing her studies.
Her anime voice shows include ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’ of 2004, in which she plays the role of Nina Tucker; ‘Aquarion’ and ‘Gunslinger Girl’ of 2005, in which she plays Silvia and Elsa respectively. Her voice featured as Eve in ‘Black Cat’, Georgie in ‘Shin-chan’ and Akira in ‘Dragonaut: The Resonance’. Playing the character of Maho Minami in ‘Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad’ is one of her favorite works and she feels she can identify with this particular role quite closely. She also talked about an incident when she had reached for the recording dressed in almost the same clothes as Maho and how the equation Maho has with her brother is very similar to Brina’s relationship with her sibling.

She has taken up voice-acting projects in films like the character of Tony Tony Chopper in the ‘One Piece’ series, the ‘Dragon Ball’ series, ‘Black Butler’, ‘Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry’, ‘Napping Princess’ and ‘My Hero Academia: Two Heroes’.
She has dubbed for video games such as the ‘Dragon Ball’ series playing the roles of Chiaotzu, Arale Norimaki, Puar, Ghost Usher and Bulla. Brina Palencia has also acted in several TV series. She has portrayed the role of Jody Evans in TV series ‘Castle’, Sophia in 2014 series ‘Star-Crossed’, Ana in ‘The Walking Dead’, Renee in ‘Chase’, Krista in ‘The Good Guys’ and LuAnn Potts in ‘Lumberjack Man’.
Family & Personal Life
Brina Palencia is married to producer and artist Paul Wingo, and the couple had been dating for a few years before tying the knot on 5 January 2013. They live in Los Angeles and had their first child, a boy, on the 1st of February 2019. Brina had shared the news of her pregnancy with her fans on Twitter on September 12, 2018.
After becoming a mother, Brina feels that she should be investing her time and energy in taking up projects that allow her to explore her talents and she can feel proud of doing. Her time spent with her son is very precious for her and she wishes to do limited work that is meaningful and artistically fulfilling, not just anything that pays the bills. She has started to become more conscious about the work she involves herself with.
She has a brother Gino Palencia, who is also a creative talent and works as a production assistant and ADR engineer at Funimation.
