Career

Ashley Nocera was initially helped by her boyfriend Alex Sharoykin when she started working out. At the time, she had stopped swimming and was looking to build up her body. Sharoykin, who had played varsity basketball and varsity football, served as a reliable source of information as well as a helpful guide as she started frequenting the gym.

For three years, Nocera spent hours in the gym every day. She lifted weights, made use of gym equipment like the treadmill and the stepmill, and maintained a nutritious diet. In 2013, her hard work and determination seemed to have paid off as for the first time in life, she had the body she had always desired. By then, she had developed a real passion for fitness and wanted to participate in fitness competitions.

In the following year, nineteen-year-old Nocera participated in the 2014 WBFF NYC Championships. This was the first time she had taken part in any fitness-related competitive events. Despite her inexperience, she excelled in the competition and ended up winning it. It also marked the beginning of her career as a professional bikini athlete.

As Nocera had won the competition in New York, she had automatically qualified for the 2014 WBFF Las Vegas World Championships. While she did not win this time, she finished the competition in the seventh place. She would participate in 2015 as well and earn a fifth-place finish.

She truly became a social media sensation in 2016. Each of her Instagram posts gets hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of comments. She set up her self-titled YouTube channel in June 2014 and posted the first video there in August that year. Since then, her channel has grown rapidly. The most popular video on her channel is called ‘10K Calorie Challenge | Girl VS food | Epic Cheat Day | Ashley Nocera’, with over five million views. She also has a cooking channel but has not uploaded anything new there in a while.

Personal Life

Ashley Nocera was born on August 15, 1994, in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Her father, Gregg Nocera, is a bodybuilder, as was his own father before him. Both of her parents have made appearances in her social media posts. She has a younger sister.

Nocera was inspired by her family to be physically active since she was a child. She took up swimming when she was four years old, in 1999, and in the ensuing decade, participated in multiple swimming competitions. However, despite being an active athlete, she never attempted to follow a balanced diet and by the time she turned 15, she started to feel self-conscious about her body. She did not have the physique she wanted and was unhappy with her appearance.

According to Nocera, she has always admired the beautiful women in fitness magazines and wanted to look like them. Soon after, she acquired her first gym membership and started to work on her body. In the initial months, she received a lot of criticism from the people close to her but she persisted on her path, hoping that she would realize her dream someday.

She began dating fellow social media influencer, Alex Sharoykin, sometime in 2009. They met on Facebook and it was Nocera who reached out first. After seeing his profile on her “recommended friends” list, she sent out a friend request to Sharoykin. He accepted and they subsequently decided to meet in person. About three months later, they were officially in a relationship. They both attended Wagner College in New York. She was a nursing student whereas he was a business marketing major. Nocera graduated in May 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in science of nursing. For the last two years of college, she worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a hospital. In a YouTube video posted in August that year, she revealed that she had decided to take a break from her studies so she could “breathe and catch up with everything”. However, she also stated that she had plans to take the NCLEX exam at some point in the near future.
