Suzy Aitchison is an English actress best recognized for her portrayal of Susie on BBC One’s sitcom ‘Jam & Jerusalem,’ in which she starred alongside Dawn French. She is also known for appearing in ‘The Russ Abbot Show’ which ran from 1986 to 1989. The talented actress has also made guest appearances in many TV programs and has narrated a number of audiobooks for BBC. Born in Marylebone, London, England to actress June Whitfield, Aitchison developed a love for acting just like her mother. She earned a degree in Drama & Theatre Arts from University of Birmingham and went on to work extensively in theatre. After her mother introduced her to comedian/screenwriter Jennifer Saunders, Aitchison kicked off her career in television.

Suzy Aitchison kicked off her acting career through stage productions. She featured in several theatrical productions and garnered appreciation for her performances. She made her television debut with a minor role in ‘Are You Being Served?’ In 1986, she appeared in ‘Filthy Rich and Catflap’. Directed and produced by Paul Jackson, and written by Ben Elton, the sitcom starred Adrian Edmondson, Rik Mayall and Nigel Planer in the lead roles. That year, the actress also joined the cast of the sketch comedy series ‘The Russ Abbot Show’.
In 1987, Aitchison played Lesley in ‘Bloody New Year’, a British horror movie about a group of teenagers who get trapped in a haunted hotel on a remote island. This was followed by her appearances in the popular comedy series ‘Mr. Bean’ and BBC One’s medical drama series ‘Casualty’. Soon after this, the actress featured in the sitcom ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ aka Ab Fab. Written by, created by, and starring comedian Jennifer Saunders, it featured Saunders as a heavy-drinking PR agent who constantly chases bizarre fads so as to stay young and "hip".
Following an appearance in ITV’s ‘The 10 Percenters’, Aitchison featured in ‘Goodnight Sweetheart,’ a sitcom about an accidental time traveler who lives a double life after discovering a time portal that allows him to travel between London of the Second World War era and the same area during the 1990s. She then appeared as Miss Bird in the TV series ‘The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury’.
During the 2000s, the actress garnered decent fame when she portrayed the role of Susie in BBC One’s ‘Jam & Jerusalem’. Written by Abigail Wilson and Jennifer Saunders, the series also starred Jennifer Saunders, Sue Johnston, Pauline McLynn, Maggie Steed, Dawn French, Sally Phillips and David Mitchell.

Suzy Aitchison was born on 4 June 1960 in Marylebone, London, England to radio, film, and television actress June Whitfield and her husband Tim Aitchison. Her mother was known for her long professional partnership with Terry Scott with who she appeared in the sitcoms ‘Happy Ever After’ and ‘Terry and June.’
Aitchison attended the University of Birmingham and graduated with a degree in Drama & Theatre Arts. In April 2003, she married Terence Quinn.
