Susanna Reid is an award-winning English journalist and television presenter who is most recognised for co-presenting the BBC Breakfast show from 2003 to 2014 and ITV’s morning show Good Morning Britain which has been on air since 2014. Earlier she began her career with BBC Radio Bristol and worked for Radio 5 Live and BBC News 24. She also participated in BBC One celebrity dancing show Strictly Come Dancing and ended up becoming a finalist. After working for BBC for almost twenty years, she moved to ITV and presented numerous shows along with Good Morning Britain like Save Money: Good Food. As an actress, she first acted on stage and television show while she was still a teenager. Later, as an adult, she starred in a cameo role in soap opera, Hollyoaks, and lent her voice to the animation film, Trolls.

Career

As a teenager, Susanna Reid appeared in Spider's Web (1982), a stage production of Agatha Christie's play. She went on to feature in Channel 4’s television drama thriller series, The Price (1985).

After completing her studies, she joined BBC Radio Bristol and later became a reporter and producer for Radio 5 Live. She continued to work for a couple of years, as a reporter, for BBC News 24. It was there that her big break came by chance. Working there, she once had to fill in for the 11 pm presenter who did not show up one night. Susanna, three months pregnant then, presented the show for an hour and earned her permanent position as presenter.

In the early 2000, she assumed the responsibilities of the main presenter of the BBC Breakfast weekend show and continued till 2010 when she picked up the role of presenter in Sunday Morning Live for BBC One. She presented the first two series of the show before going back to her weekend show. In 2012, she began presenting the weekday slot of the Breakfast Show with Bill Turnbull and continued till 2014.

During this period, she also served as a newsreader for 24 Sunday (2006-2007) and The Andrew Marr Show (2007-2009); presented television series Turn Back Time: The Family (2012) and New Year Live programme on BBC One (2013). In between, she also presented the coverage of the 2010 Oscars.

In 2013, Susanna Reid participated as a contestant in BBC One celebrity dancing show Strictly Come Dancing. She was paired up with dancer Kevin Clifton and ended up becoming the runner up of the show. During this time, she also featured in the companion show Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two.

After working for BBC for around two decades, Susanna Reid quit and joined ITV in 2014 to host their breakfast show Good Morning Britain. She continues to host the show from Monday to Thursday along with Piers Morgan. For her work in the show, she has bagged Best TV Presenter and Celebrity Personality of the year awards at the National Reality TV Awards multiple times.

Earlier she had also twice won the Television and Radio Industries Club’s Newsreader of the Year award in 2014 and 2015.

In 2017, she co-presented ITV’s primetime consumer series, Save Money: Good Food along with Matt Tebbutt.

Between 2017 and 2019, she presented ITV’s Crime & Punishment documentaries including The Murder of Becky Watts – Police Tapes, Children Who Kill, John Worboys: The Taxi Cab Rapist, The Murder of Rhys Jones: Police Tapes, The Game Show Serial Killer: Police Tapes, Who Killed Sharon Birchwood?: Police Tapes and Death Row: Countdown to Execution.

Over the years, she has frequently appeared as herself in television series like Loose Women, Lorraine and Celebrity Juice.

As an actress, she worked as voice artist in adventure comedy animation movie Trolls in 2016 and in 2018, did a cameo role in Channel4’s soap opera Hollyoaks.

Susanna Reid also wrote the weekly column for The Daily Mail for a year before calling it quits in September 2020 to devote more time to herself and her family.

Susanna Victoria Reid was born on 10th December, 1970 in Croydon, South London as the youngest child of Barry Reid, a management consultant and Sue Smith, a nurse. Between 1975 and 1989, she went to Croham Hurst School, Croydon High School and St Paul's Girls' School in London for her education.

In 1989, she joined the University of Bristol and studied politics, philosophy and law. During her time in the university (till 1992), she worked as the editor of the student’s newspaper, Epigram. In 1991, the newspaper was short-listed as Best Student Newspaper in The Guardian/NUS student journalism awards. She further pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the Cardiff School of Journalism.

Susanna Reid was in relationship with former sports correspondent Dominic Cotton for sixteen years between 1998 and 2014. The couple have three sons together – Sam, Finn and Jack. She is a supporter of Crystal Palace Football club. She has been involved with a lot of charity works.

Reid has figured in the list of Zoo Weekly's top ten of Britain's sexiest mums and FHM's 100 sexiest women list (2013).

She is a cat lover and loves weightlifting. She is also a fashionista and trendsetter. On social media, she shares with her fans the outfits she is wearing for her show and also lets them know where to buy them.
