Early Life & Career

Stella Arroyave was born on March 20, 1956, in Popayán, Colombia. She completed her formal education in Colombia. Stella was always inclined towards art so she decided to become an art dealer.

She started her career as an art dealer and ended up setting up an antique shop in Los Angeles. Call it destiny or coincidence, actor Anthony Hopkins walked into her antique shop to look for antique furniture for his home.

Stella and Hopkins got along well and started dating. Stella then started hogging the limelight as paparazzi started following her. Their relationship culminated in marriage in 2003. Post her wedding with Hopkins, Stella started working in films. She was one of the faculty committee members of the American-German-French film, ‘The Human Stain,’ which released in the year 2003.

In 2005, she was seen in one of the episodes of the famous American television talk show, ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show.’ In 2007, she appeared as Gina in the Hopkins-directed drama ‘Slipstream.’ She, along with Robert Katz, also produced the film. Apart from directing the movie, Hopkins had also composed the music for the film.

Personal Life

Stella had walked into Hopkins’ life at a time when the actor had convinced himself that he cannot maintain a substantial relationship with anyone. Before his marriage with Stella Arroyave, Hopkins had two failed marriages, but that did not stop Stella from falling head over heels in love with him.

They dated for two years, before deciding to take their relationship to the next level. Their wedding took place in March 2003 at Hopkins’ clifftop mansion in Malibu. It was attended by dignitaries like Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, Winona Ryder, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Hopkins’ mother, Muriel.

Apart from making him realize that he can indeed be successful when it comes to relationships, Stella also brought a sense of calm into the actor’s life. She also helped him overcome depression and brought about a good change in his lifestyle. The actor had once stated that his wife takes care of him in every way possible and never leaves a stone unturned when it comes to his health.

Hopkins has credited Stella’s easy going nature for helping him cope with his difficulties. He has stated in many of his interviews that she helped him deal with his problems associated with alcohol addiction, which almost killed him.

Stella currently lives in her Malibu residence, along with her beloved husband. In one of his recent interviews, Hopkins had said that he loves walking on the beach, along with his beautiful wife.
