Sam has no siblings and was raised single-handedly by his mother. He was 8 when he met his father for the first time. From his days in elementary school to fifth grade, he did not realize the changes he went through. Toward the end of fifth grade, he started realizing he was different. This had a huge impact on his social life. His friends found it difficult to cope with Sam’s sudden behavioral changes. Sam transformed from a chirpy child to a reserved person. Thus, he lost many of his friends by the time he reached middle school. In his 'Draw My Life' video, he shared an incident that had happened in middle school. However, he narrated the story using fictional names. He shared that he was attracted to a girl whom he had met at his middle school’s summer camp. They were repeatedly harassed and bullied by his other classmates. Sam also mentioned that he would often pretend to be a boy on web chats.
By the time Sam stepped into his teenage years, he was totally consumed by depression. He even tried committing suicide a few times. He has mentioned about this in his storytime video titled “i wrote a suicide note 10 years ago.”
Sam was unable to deal with the biological change he was undergoing back then. However, he regained his confidence by the time he finished high school. He was 15 when he opened up to his mother about his sexual orientation. While growing up, Sam realized he was different from the others around him. His mother accepted him and supported him.
July 20, 2012, marked the beginning of Sam’s transition from a female to a male. He had a haircut on that day. He then changed his name. His mother supported Sam and delivered a presentation on transgenders at Sam’s school. Sam later changed his high school, as the committee was not so welcoming to transgenders. He moved to another high school, which he felt was better than the previous one.
Sam is now completely transformed into a boy and often shares his stories and experiences through his YouTube channel.
Sam is currently in a relationship with a girl named Sheila Mushrif. Their relationship began in 2016. Sheila was actually one of Sam’s fans. Sam often posts his pictures with Sheila on Instagram.
