Tired of making the same old ‘waterspouts piggies’ with her daughters’ hair every day, Mindy started trying out new styles on the twins, Brooklyn and Bailey, years before Rylan was born. At that time, Brooklyn and Bailey themselves were only 18 months old! To keep track of all the hairstyles that she conjured up, she took pictures and saved them in an album. Fast forward to 2008—she started a blog in order to record the hairstyles. On March 17, 2009, Mindy set up an account with YouTube, and the very next day the first video was up. Within a year, YouTube contacted her asking whether she could host a channel as her videos had become immensely popular. She accepted and the channel was launched. It saw exponential growth in the following years, and in September 2012, Mindy’s husband Shaun quit his job to manage the technical side of the business full time. At present, there are five different channels operating under their brand, ‘M-Star Media, Inc.’ The family has made appearances on ‘Good Morning America’, ‘Today’, ‘Katie’, ABC news’ ‘20/20’, and several other talk shows.

The most viewed video on ‘Cute Girls Hairstyles’ was uploaded on June 4, 2014, and it is about Rylan and her siblings trying out mermaid tails in their swimming pool. It has garnered a whopping 127 million views and counting! Rylan has been an unequivocal part of her family’s journey on YouTube, and gradually it seems she is carving out her own identity. When she was younger and had shorter hair, she starred with her mother in the ‘shorty dos’ videos, but as she is growing up and letting her hair grow out, the styles are becoming more intricate and expansive.

With vivid blue eyes and long brown hair, Rylan is already on her way to becoming a beautiful young lady! She is absolutely adored by her audience, many of whom are growing up along with her, and can relate to all the trials and tribulations of girlhood—from home works to teasing sisters—that she faces every day. She has a great sense of humour, and is often seen as the sarcastic one in the family. According to her mother, Rylan has been singing since she was born. She has a music booth set up in her room, where she is honing her skill to follow the footsteps of her idol, Taylor Swift.
