Much of Romain Dauriac’s early life is shrouded in mystery. It is on account of him not revealing anything on social media and having no accounts either on Facebook or Instagram. However, he failed to keep certain parts of his life private after reports began to emerge in 2013 that he was dating Hollywood megastar, Scarlett Johansson. They were introduced to each other in November 2012, in Paris, through a mutual friend, tattoo artist Fuzi UVTPK. It was revealed by the media that Dauriac had been a journalist and was the former editor of the urban culture magazine, ‘Clark Magazine’.

In spite of that, Romain Dauriac continued maintaining a no-interview policy and rarely made any comments on their relationship. Clearly, the chemistry was there and this became apparent when the paparazzi started following the couple. They were photographed on dates, dinners, and on the red carpet. When asked, Scarlett Johansson stated that it was their differences that had attracted them to each other.

Romain was interested in journalism, art, going to art galleries and found Johansson’s world of Hollywood to be fascinating. The same went for the actress for whom the world outside Hollywood was engaging.

Consequently, these revelations and his continued appearances beside Scarlett Johansson on red carpet events gave him even more exposure to the media. With the media publishing his pictures, Romain Dauriac soon became a celebrity. The couple got engaged in August 2013. Romain Dauriac’s fame reached new heights because this came as a surprise to many. Scarlett had previously stated that she wanted relationships, but didn’t want to necessarily get married or have children. She had already been married to actor Ryan Reynolds from 2008 until 2011.

Romain Dauriac’s popularity continued to grow when in 2014; it was revealed that the Scarlett Johansson was pregnant. On September 4, 2014, a representative for the couple revealed that Scarlett had given birth to their daughter Rose Dorothy Dauriac on August 30, 2014. Additionally, the handsome, brooding Frenchman had broken the actress’ resolve and they were married on October 1, 2014. However, the birth of their child and conflicting travel schedules of both the parents were beginning to put a strain on their marriage. Furthermore, Johansson had stated many times that she didn’t like to be in a monogamous relationship. The couple separated in the summer of 2016.

Unfortunately, things soon took a more negative turn bringing even more spotlight on Dauriac. Without informing him, in an interview, Scarlett Johansson stated that, as a mother invested in privacy, “…I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage… it is with kindness that I ask other parties involved and the media to do the same”. The very public statement caught the private Dauriac off-guard and he felt heartbroken. He released a statement saying, “It is indeed unfortunate, especially for our daughter, that Scarlett filed in court and made our personal differences so public…”.

Furthermore, a custody battle for their daughter Rose erupted. Romain wanted primary custody and to take her back to France. The divorce was finalized on September 13, 2017. Both parents shared custody rights equally. Much of the media attention on Romain disappeared after that, except for the intrusive paparazzi wanting to click images of him with his daughter. He also became the head of his own creative advertising agency amassing more than a million dollars in profits.
