Renn Hawkey is an American musician, songwriter, producer and an occasional actor. He is a member of the American metal band ‘Deadsy’ which is based in Los Angeles. The band has released three studio albums. Hawkey has also served as a co-producer and a music director in the American drama film ‘Higher Ground’. Directed by Vera Farmiga, the film premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. It earned nominations for several awards including the Grand Jury Prize. Hawkey had a cameo appearance in the musical comedy film ‘The Singing Detective’. He has also played a recurring role in the American supernatural drama TV series ‘The Return’. Though the series was met with positive reviews from critics, it was cancelled after one season. He contributed to several tracks on the self-titled album of the American rock band ’30 Seconds to Mars’. The album was a success and peaked at the 107th position on the US Billboard 200.

Career
Renn Hawkey was the third member to join the metal band ‘Deadsy’. The band is known for its unique characteristic of identifying each of its members with a specific color. The band released their self-titled album in 1996. Some tracks of the album were ‘Lake Waramaug’, ‘Flowing Glower’ and ‘Future Years’.
In May 2002, Hawkey, along with his band, released their second studio album ‘Commencement’. The album did not perform well commercially. It was also met with mostly negative reviews. Some of the tracks were ‘Brand New Love’, ‘She Likes Big Words’, ‘Tom Sawyer’ and ‘Commencement’.
The band released their third album ‘Phantasmagore’ in August 2006. It debuted at the 176th position on the US Billboard 200. The tracks in the album included ‘Carrying Over’, ‘Paint it Black’, ‘The Last Story Over’ and ‘Health & Theory’. During the 2000s, the band also toured throughout the United States. Their most notable performance was seen in the ‘Family Values Tour’.
Hawkey is also known for his work in films. He made a cameo appearance in the 2003 crime comedy musical film ‘The Singing Detective’. It was directed by Keith Gordon, and was based on a BBC series of the same name. The film was a commercial failure.
In 2011, he served as a co-producer as well as the music director of the American drama film ‘Higher Ground’ which was directed by his wife Vera Farmiga. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2011. It was met with positive reviews and was also nominated for several awards. However, the film was a commercial failure.
Hawkey was seen in a recurring role in the American supernatural series ‘The Returned’. The series was about some people living in a small town, whose lives turn chaotic after people who have been dead for years start reappearing. Though the series received positive reviews, it was cancelled after just one season.

Personal Life
Renn Hawkey was born on 29th March 1974 in New York City as the third of five children born to Penelope and William Stevenson Hawkey. His father worked as an advertising executive. He attended the Hyde School in Maine. He developed an interest in music at an early age and used to play the piano and the cello.
Renn Hawkey started dating actress Vera Farmiga in 2004. They got married after four years. Their son Fynn McDonnell Hawkey was born in January 2009. In November 2010, Farmiga gave birth to their second child, a daughter who was named Gytta Lubov Hawkey.
