René-Charles Angélil is the son of Canadian singer Celine Dion and her late husband, René Angélil. He is the first-born child of Celine and René and has younger twin brothers. He also has three half-siblings from his father’s previous marriages. René-Charles shares his first name with his father. Although Celine and René Angélil had a huge age gap, they had a blissful married life. They stayed together until René’s death in 2016. René-Charles is an avid ice hockey fan and has played for the 'Nevada Storm Midget AA' league. He often accompanies his mother to various events. He attended the 2016 'Billboard Music Awards,' where he presented an award to his mother.
René-Charles’s parents met for the first time in 1980. Celine was just 12 years old then, and René was Celine’s manager. René was sent a tape that featured 12-year-old Celine singing a song. He was a married man back then. René was previously married to Denyse Duquette and had a son named Patrick. René and Denyse divorced in 1972. René and Celine faced a lot of difficulty trying to conceive. In May 2000, Celine had two fertility operations at a clinic in New York to improve her chances of conceiving, but they were in vain. The whole procedure was publicized extensively by the media. After years of failed attempts to conceive, they opted for in-vitro fertilization. Soon, they announced Celine’s first pregnancy.
