Nathan Blecharczyk is an American billionaire businessman, who is the co-founder as well as chief strategy officer of Airbnb, an online marketplace that can be used for arranging or offering lodging, homestays or tourism experiences. Blecharczyk was born and raised in Massachusetts. He created an online software business while he was still in high school. He completed his higher education from Harvard University. He worked for multiple companies such as Microsoft as a program manager, and OPNET Technologies as an engineer. Eventually, Blecharzyk, along with Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia, founded Airbnb, an online marketplace. He was also the company`s first chief technical officer. According to Forbes 2017 list of `The World`s Billionaires`, he was the 474th richest person in the world, with a net worth of around $ 3.8 billion

Nathan Blecharczyk completed his studies from Harvard University. For some time he worked for Microsoft, as a program manager. Later, he started working as an engineer for OPNET Technologies, a software business that used to provide performance management for computer networks as well as applications. Later, in 2007, he became a lead developer at Batiq.
In 2008, along with Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia, he co-founded Airbnb. The website was initially named Airbedandbreakfast.com. The three of them created the website offering short-term living quarters along with breakfast and a business networking opportunity, for people unable to book a hotel in the saturated market. The site launched officially on August 11th, in 2008. They got their first customers during the Industrial Design Conference that was held by Industrial Designers Society of America, where travelers had a difficult time in finding lodging. Blecharczyk, who was the company`s first chief technology officer, had coded the original website using Ruby on Rails.
As they were unable to raise much funding, the bought mass quantities of cereal, which was packaged branded as `Obama O`s`, and `Cap`n McCain`s`, in order to sell them at the Democratic National Convention held in Denver. The sold enough cereal, and earned $ 30,000. They also attracted the attention of Paul Graham, co founder of Y Combinator. He gave them $ 20,000 and also accepted them into his company`s seed funding program.
Nathan Blecharczyk has been credited with overseeing Airbnb`s expansion in Cuba in 2015. He eventually became chief strategy officer of Airbnb, in 2017, and he was also announced Chairman of Airbnb China. The same year, he was also named in the list of `The World`s Billionaires` by Forbes, where he was listed as the 474th richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of US $ 3.8 billion.
