Lewys Ball started his primary ‘YouTube’ channel, ‘LookingForLewys,’ on November 19, 2013. He came up with the name ‘LookingForLewys’ from John Green’s book ‘Looking for Alaska.’ Initially, he started by posting videos that lacked direction. However, all of this changed after he broke his arm and had to stay at home. During this time, he started watching videos by Zoella and others, which were targeted at a specific audience. He posted his first audience-specific video on February 23, 2014. It was titled ‘Primary School Observations’ and gained more than 34 thousand views. The video gave a specific direction to his content. Following this, he started posting vlogs targeted at his age group, while attending school. These included ‘Sh!t Teachers Say,’ ‘Netflix, Sweaters, & New Series,’ and ‘Fall Morning Routine // Collab w/ Floral Princess.’ Such videos helped him earn more viewers.

It was around this time that LookingForLewys also discovered makeup. He loved the artistic side of putting on makeup and began watching tutorials. However, being a boy, he was shy about expressing his interest. He somehow managed to save money and buy some makeup from ‘Boots.’ This was a turning point in his life, as it not only gave him the confidence to buy makeup but also the will to create makeup vlogs for ‘YouTube.’ His initial makeup videos started generating thousands of views. These videos included ‘Spring Everyday Makeup Routine | Teenage Boy’ and ‘Collective Beauty Haul | Mac Cinderella, the Balm, Sigma & More.’

His ability to create student-oriented content also made him popular with young viewers. Vlogs such as ‘Weekend Morning Routine / Spring 2015’ and ‘Anxiety, Hate & Exams | Advice Q&A’ fetched him a lot of views and subscribers. Unfortunately, his transition to creating makeup videos also started getting online hatred. However, he brushed off the negativity. This really worked for him. ‘My Everyday Makeup Routine | Teenage Boy,’ published in August 2015, became one of his first videos to get more than 100 thousand views. Since then, Lewys Ball’s videos have generated more than 23 million views. His subscriber base has also grown to more than 386 thousand on ‘YouTube.’

LookingForLewys is also followed by more than 186 thousand people on ‘Instagram,’ making him one of the biggest teenage influencers on social media. Two of his most popular ‘YouTube’ videos are collaborations and have more than a million views each. They are ‘The Truth About Love Island... (Tea was Spilt) w/ Savanna’ and ‘American Listens to British Music for the First Time ft. Kenzie Elizabeth.’ Vlogs such as ‘Opening My A-Level Results 2017 “LIVE REACTION” on Camera,’ ‘I Tried Following Kendall Jenner's Vogue Makeup Tutorial (& had a breakdown),’ and ‘I Tried Following A James Charles Makeup Tutorial (sister's shaking)’ have also contributed to his ever-increasing popularity.

His ability to influence people and bring about a positive change has spilled over to the world outside social media. In January 2017, it was revealed that makeup megabrand ‘Rimmel London’ had made LookingForLewys their first male spokesmodel by featuring him in their ‘Live the London Look’ campaign. He also participated in London’s ‘Summer in the City 2016’ online video festival. A few months before this, Lewys got signed by one of the biggest ‘YouTube’ management organizations, ‘Gleam Futures.’ He also continues to speak for fluidity in fashion and makeup across all genders and races.

LookingForLewys was born Lewys Ball, in Scotland, on June 7, 1999. He studied English literature, theater studies, philosophy, and ethics in college. He has now joined a university in the UK. He is single and has never been in any relationship. He has refused to comment on his sexual orientation.
