Her mother is an avid dancer and all her siblings are well on their way to becoming trained dancers.

Lindsay learned dancing in her mother’s dance academy. She also ended up winning several dance competitions which helped her to gain confidence. She also learnt a trick or two by participating in the competitions.

At her mother’s dance studio, she was exposed to different forms of dance. She then went on to learn various dance forms, such as jazz, ballroom dancing, ballet, Hip-hop, contemporary and professional Latin.

Over a period of time her mother’s dance studio became famous and producers of famous TV shows began to associate themselves with the studio for their dance based reality shows. This helped Lindsay to get familiar with the glitz and glamor of television shows.

While in high school, Lindsay auditioned for the show, ‘So You Think You can Dance’. Though she wasn’t particularly interested in participating, she did so, based on her mother’s advice. But she performed extremely well during the auditions and was subsequently selected for the show by the judges who were impressed by her performances.

Career

After getting selected for the ninth season of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, she kept on impressing the judges with her amazing dancing skills. Not only was she a trained dancer but was also one of the youngest contestants in the show, which helped her to some degree.

She was paired with Cole Horibe, a martial arts fusion dancer. The pair was one of the main attractions of the show. However, during the final stages of the competition, the competitors had to switch their partners every week and this proved to be a challenge for Lindsay.

She was eventually eliminated from the show but had won millions of hearts including that of the judges. The support that she received from her fans helped her to gain some confidence. She was also invited to a tour across 30 cities that featured some of the best dancers. This further helped her to gain immense confidence.

In 2013, began the 16th season of the popular dance reality show, ‘Dancing with the Stars’. In the show, a celebrity contestant is paired with a professional dancer and Lindsay was paired with the professional boxer, Victor Ortiz. She was the second youngest professional on the show. By now, she had become quite popular, thanks to her appearance in ‘So You Think You Can Dance’.

Unfortunately, Lindsay and Victor were eliminated in the sixth week. In the next season of the show, she once again made her presence felt by coming up with some incredible performances. She continued to participate until the 25th season. In each and every season that she participated, she was recognized as a professional dancer and was always paired with a celebrity.

In the 21st season she was paired with Alek Skarlatos, a National Guard of the United States. The pair performed exceptionally well and ended up as the second runner up in the finale.

In the 22nd season of the show, she was paired with the famous singer, Wanya Morris. The pair managed to grab the fourth spot by the end of the season. Despite coming up with some amazing performances, they were eliminated in the semi-finals.

For the 23rd season, her partner was Calvin Johnson Jr., an NFL player and they performed well enough throughout the show to reach the finals. But unfortunately, they couldn’t win the title and ended up third on the podium.

In the 24th season, she, along with David Ross, reached the finals and grabbed the second spot. And finally in the 25th season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’, Lindsay managed to win along with singer and actor, Jordan Fisher.

But it wasn’t a walk in the park for Lindsay as she had her knee injured during the course of the competition. In fact, she wasn’t at her best when it came to her fitness before ascending the stage for her final performance. Along with the championship, she won the hearts of the judges and the audience with her sheer dedication towards the art.

Family & Personal Life

Lindsay Arnold was born on January 11, 1994 into a middle class family. She is the oldest of four siblings in a family of six.

Lindsay Arnold has been very close to her family, particularly to her mother. She dedicates her success to her mother and says that she was the one who constantly infused confidence in her to perform and get better.

Lindsay’s younger sisters, Rylee, Jensen and Brynlee are on their way to becoming professional dancers.

Lindsay was dating Samuel Cusick since her high school days and the couple got married in 2015. In November 2020, they were blessed with a daughter named Sage. In October 2022, Lindsay and Samuel announced that they were expecting their second child together.

Lindsay is a nature lover and loves to spend her time fishing, hiking, skiing and boating. She currently lives in Los Angeles, along with her husband, daughter and a pet dog.
