Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe, better known as Lil Tecca, is an American rapper who gained fame for his single ‘Ransom’. The song has gained a lot of popularity since its release, gaining over 400 million plays on ‘Spotify’, as well as peaking at the 4th position on the Billboard Hot 100. His other hit songs include ‘Love Me’, ‘Bossanova’, and ‘Did It Again’, all of which were released in his debut mixtape ‘We Love You Tecca’. It was put out in August 2019, and it reached the 4th position on the US Billboard 200. A few days later after its release, fake news circulated on the internet that he died in a shootout at the JFK International Airport. However, Lil Tecca clarified he was alive and well shortly after on Twitter.

Rise to Stardom
According to Lil Tecca, he began rapping with his friends on his mic on Xbox at the early age of nine. This was the time that he slowly started developing interest in the field of music and rapping. Initially he didn’t think of building a career in music and wanted a career in the NBA. However, during his mid-school years, he began to lose interest in basketball and decided to focus on music instead. ‘Tectri’, a track that he made by collaborating with a friend named Lil Gummybear, was released in early 2017. It was the first track of his to earn some popularity among listeners. Soon, he made other tracks like ‘Callin’, ‘My Time’ and ‘Rags to Riches’.
He became even more popular after the release of his first single ‘Ransom’ on 22nd May 2019. It was initially released independently, though later it was released through Republic Records and Galactic Records. Its music video was released the same day. Shot in the Dominican Republic, it was edited and directed by Cole Bennet. The song became a hit, and it debuted at the 93rd position on the US Billboard Hot 100, later peaking at number 4. It also reached the top ten charts in various countries, including Australia, Finland, Sweden and UK. A remix was also made and released on his SoundCloud account as well as other platforms after nearly three months of its original release.
‘We Love You Tecca’, his debut mixtape, was released on 30th August 2019. It was released through Republic Records, and it debuted at the 4thposition on the Billboard 200. It included his first single ‘Ransom’ and its remix, as well as other tracks like ‘Shots’, ‘Out of Luck’, and ‘Molly Girl’. Besides the US Billboard 200, it also reached the top twenty in the music charts in several other countries, including Canada, UK, and Norway.
His first studio album, ‘Virgo World’, which he is known be currently working on, is set to be released sometime in 2020.
