Kelly Osbourne is a British TV personality, performer and fashion designer. She was born in London to a celebrity singer and a successful media manager. The household was an unusual one and the family lived in 20 different homes in Britain and the USA during her childhood. Things were also complicated by her father’s struggles with addiction. In her late teens, the family starred in the reality show The Osbournes which was shot at their home. The show brought Kelly Osbourne into the limelight and following this she started her career in the entertainment and fashion industry. Osbourne has been a singer, actor, TV presenter and reality TV judge. She has also been a dancer in reality shows. She has been very open about her addiction to painkillers and has been in rehab multiple times.

Kelly Osbourne was born on 27 October 1984, in Westminster, London. Her father, Ozzy Osbourne is a heavy-metal singer and her mother, Sharon Osbourne is a television producer, media manager and author.

She has an older sister, Aimee, and a brother Jack both of whom are associated with the entertainment industry. She also has two half-siblings from her father’s first marriage and an adopted brother.

Ozzy Osbourne had a problem of addiction. He went into rehab for the first time the day after Kelly was born. The addiction would often cause Ozzy to become violent and though Kelly did not bear the brunt of this, her childhood was still marred.

The family lived in Buckinghamshire till Kelly was 11 years old. With her father away on tours with his band Black Sabbath and her mother busy with her work, the kids were brought up by nannies. Kelly has vivid memories of being force-fed vegetables or being locked up in a closet by some of them.

Kelly Osbourne attended many schools one among them was Pipers Corners School in Buckinghamshire. Once the family moved to USA she went to school in Beverly Hills.

Kelly Osbourne’s life in television had an unconventional start in 2005 when the family starred in the MTV reality show The Osbournes that chronicled the day-to-day life of their dysfunctional family. The show won an Emmy award in 2002.

Filming for the show started when Kelly Osbourne was seventeen. She has said that the constant presence of cameras for the next three years was very stressful for her. Her sister Aimee refused to be filmed for the show.

Kelly Osbourne started her singing career in 2002 with an album titled Shut Up which was released by Eric Records. The lead song in the album was a cover of Madonna’s Papa Don’t Preach.

In 2003, Kelly was dropped by Eric Records. She moved to the Sanctuary label and recorded a hit number with her father.

In 2004, Kelly Osbourne launched a fashion line with her friend Ali Barone. The line called Stiletto Killers was targeted at teenagers and had a rock-inspired theme. It also had a sophisticated line called SK Couture. The clothing line was stopped in 2006.

In 2004, Kelly Osbourne debuted as an actress in the ABC show Life As We Know It. She played the role of Deborah Beatrice Tynan in this high school drama.

In 2005, she released her second album Sleeping in Nothing. It did well but courted controversy as Osbourne appeared to have made heavy alterations to her looks on the album cover.

In 2007, Kelly Osbourne started hosting the reality show Project Catwalk for Sky 1. She hosted the show in its second and third seasons in 2007 and 2008.

As a singer and an actress, Osbourne got an important role in the musical Chicago. She performed as the prison matron Mama Morton at the Cambridge Theater in London in July 2007. The same year Osbourne signed up with Radio 1 to present the advice show The Surgery. Her first episode on the show that gave health advice to adolescents was on self-harm.

Kelly Osbourne like her father has had her struggles with addiction. She is addicted to painkillers. She went into rehab for the first time in 2004 at a Malibu Rehab facility Promises.

In 2008, Kelly Osbourne got engaged to model Luke Worrell. The couple separated in 2010 after Worrell had an affair with Elle Schneider. She got engaged again in 2011 to chef Matthew Mosshart. The engagement was called off in 2014.

In 2020, Kelly had gastric sleeve surgery to lose weight and lost 80 pounds. She said she had the surgery to overcome her emotional eating problems.

Kelly Osbourne has been actively involved in charity work as part of various campaigns such as Give a Damn and True Colours Fund. She also worked with the Salvation Army for relief work after Hurricane Sandy.
