Family & Personal Life
Karima Jackson is in a relationship with Horatio Joines, one of the 'Organize Change, Inc.' members. The two often accompany each other in their philanthropic activities. Though not much is known about their relationship, it is confirmed that their devotion to noble causes brought Karima and Horatio together. The two were in the news in 2016 after Horatio had a physical altercation with Newark Cemetery's board member Warren Vincentz. At that time, Karima was working on the 'Clean up Woodland Cemetery' campaign in Newark, for which she faced a lot of opposition from the cemetery board. The board authority declined to financially back Karima's campaign proposal. She, however, was determined to clean up the cemetery so that it could be used for other purposes. It resulted in a feud between Karima and Warren Vincentz, whom she accused of misbehaving with her. She immediately reported the incident to the police and her boyfriend.
Horatio arrived before the police and attempted to click pictures of the board member's license plate, which caused a dispute between the two. The fight took an ugly turn when Horatio punched Warren hard in his face. When the cops arrived, Karima filed a complaint against Warren for triggering the brawl. In her complain to the ‘New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs’, she accused the cemetery's board of financial mismanagement, regulatory violations and a lack of transparency in its financial affairs. The matter has now been resolved. It did not affect Karima and Horatio's relationship in any way, and the couple is planning to get married soon.
It was her late great aunt who inspired Karima Jackson to dedicate her life to philanthropic endeavours. She revealed that her great aunt, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 80, made several sacrifices for the betterment of community.
Karima is also a member of the organization ‘Anti-Racist Alliance-North Jersey’.
