Henry Simmons is an American actor best known for portraying the character of detective Baldwin Jones in ABC’s police drama series ‘NYPD Blue’ and of Agent Alphonso MacKenzie in the same channel’s drama ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ He is also famous for playing Issac Wright in the legal drama ‘Shark’. The actor has guest-starred in a number of TV shows, such as 'Saturday Night Live', 'New York Undercover', 'The Cleaner', 'Raising the Bar', 'Transparent' and 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit', to name a few. He has acted in a number of movies as well; these include 'Are We There Yet?', 'Madea's Family Reunion', 'The Insurgents', ‘South of Pico’, 'World's Greatest Dad' and 'No Good Deed'. Coming to Simmons’ honors and awards, he was once honored with the ‘Grand Jury Award’ for the Best Actor at American Black Film Festival for his performance in the flick ‘South of Pico’.

Henry Simmons first appeared in the 1994 flick ‘Above the Rim’. He then starred as a basketball player in the 1994 TV shows ‘Saturday Night Live’ and ‘New York Undercover’. Then from 2000 to 2005, he played the role of Det. Baldwin Jones in the drama ‘NYPD Blue’. During this time, the actor also did the movies ‘Taxi’ and ‘Are We There Yet?’ After this, he began playing the role of Issac Wright in the series ‘Shark’ and continued in this role until 2008. During this time, Simmons also got featured as Dr. Walter Chambers in the flick ‘South of Pico’.
He played supporting roles in the TV program ‘The Cleaner’ and in the TV film ‘Georgia O'Keeffe’ in 2009. The American actor then played Kendrick Paulsen Jr. in the movie ‘From the Rough’ in 2011. Two years later, he was cast in the shows ‘Second Generation Wayans’ and ‘Ravenswood’.
Simmons then began portraying the character of Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ in 2014. That year, he also appeared in an episode of ‘Transparent’ and ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’. In addition, the American actor did the movie ‘No Good Deed’ the same year.

Simmons, who is a casting director, as well as another sister. He attended Franklin Pierce University on a basketball scholarship and earned a business degree from the University in 1992.
