Harley Bird is an English actor and voice-over artist. She is best known for lending her voice to the cartoon character ‘Peppa Pig.’ Bird displayed her acting talents from early childhood. She made her entry into the entertainment industry when she was just 5 years old, when she signed with the ‘Alphabet Kidz Talent Agency.’ Within a month, she earned her first assignment, which was ‘Peppa Pig.’ Bird lent her voice to the character in the third, fourth, and fifth seasons of the series. She is currently the oldest child actor to play a character on the show. During the fifth season, although most of the child actors were replaced, Bird was still retained by the show. Her performance as ‘Peppa Pig’ earned Bird a ‘British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ (BAFTA) award. She became the youngest actor to receive a ‘Performer Award’ at the ‘BAFTA Awards.’ Bird made an appearance in the ‘CBBC’ program ‘Newsround,’ where she presented a behind-the-scenes feature. Bird starred as ‘Daisy’ in the short film ‘Blueberry.’ She played a prominent character, ‘Piper,’ in the movie ‘How I Live Now.’ Bird currently appears as ‘Sammy,’ the lead character, in the web series ‘So Sammy,’ which is being streamed on ‘Disney Channel.’

Harley Bird was born Harley Fiona Riley, on December 13, 2001, in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, to Gill and Craig Riley. Her father owns a construction company. Bird has two sisters, Taylor and Olivia, and one brother, Rosco.
Bird was inclined toward acting since a tender age. She attended the ‘Tring Park School for the Performing Arts’ before joining mainstream school. She currently attends the ‘Pipers Corner School.’
Career
Bird was signed to the ‘Alphabet Kidz Talent Agency’ when she was 5 years old. Within a month of her joining the agency, Bird earned her first role. She was chosen to voice the cartoon character ‘Peppa Pig.’ The animated TV series ‘Peppa Pig’ is one of the most popular series on ‘Channel 5’ and ‘Nick Jr.’ in the UK. It is aired in 180 countries around the world. The series is about a pig named ‘Peppa’ and her family and friends.
When selected for ‘Peppa Pig,’ Bird replaced child artists Lily Snowden-Fine and Cicely Bloom, who had played the character earlier. She lent her voice for the third, fourth, and fifth seasons of ‘Peppa Pig.’ In the fifth season, while most other child artists were replaced, Bird was retained as ‘Peppa.’ In 2011, Bird won the ‘BAFTA Award’ for the’ Best Performer,’ for her work in ‘Peppa Pig.’ She became the youngest actor to win the award.
Bird has appeared in several other TV programs, too. She was seen in ‘Newsround’ on ‘CBBC,’ where she presented a behind-the-scenes feature for ‘Peppa Pig.’ She appeared on ‘The Chris Moyles Show’ on ‘BBC Radio One,’ where she was interviewed as the character ‘Peppa.’ After her ‘BAFTA’ win, Bird was interviewed on shows such ‘ITV This Morning,’ ‘BBC Breakfast,’ and ‘CH5 Live with Gabby.’ Bird has appeared in commercials for well-known brands such as ‘Vodafone’ and ‘ITV.’
In 2009, Bird performed as ‘Daisy’ in the short film ‘Blueberry.’ This film won the ‘Audience Award’ at the ‘Cinequest Film Festival.’ In 2013, Bird appeared as ‘Piper’ in the drama movie ‘How I Live Now.’ ‘Piper’ was one of the prominent characters of the movie. Her convincing portrayal of the character earned Bird a nomination for the ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ award at the ‘British Independent Film Awards’ in 2013.
In 2014, Bird performed as ‘Ruby’ in a single episode of the science-fiction show ‘Doctor Who,’ titled ‘In the Forest of the Night.’ In 2017, she was chosen to play ‘Sammy,’ the protagonist, in the ‘Disney Channel’ web series ‘So Sammy.’ It narrated the story of a young vlogger named ‘Sammy’ tackling her sudden fame.
