Childhood & Early Life
Hallie Marie Jackson was born on April 29, 1984, in Yardley, Pennsylvania, to Heidi and David Jackson. She studied at the ‘Pennsburg High School’ and graduated in 2002. Because of her academic excellence, she received offers from four universities, of which she selected the ‘John Hopkins University.’ During her university years, she was a member of the sorority and was actively involved with its charity division. In 2006, she graduated “Phi Beta Kappa,” with a BA in political science.
Career
Reportedly, Jackson was initially more interested in becoming a print media reporter, but after a few broadcast internships, she turned to TV journalism. At the beginning of her journalistic career in 2006, she was a general assignment reporter at ‘WBOC – TV,’ the dual ‘CBS’/‘Fox’-affiliated TV center. Initially, she began working in the Salisbury, Maryland division. She was then was transferred to Dover, Delaware.
In 2008, Jackson joined ‘WFSB’ (a ‘CBS’-affiliated TV station) and worked in two cities of Connecticut, Hartford and New Haven. After 4 years with ‘WFSB,’ she moved to ‘Hearst Corporation,’ joining them as their national correspondent. Jackson was based in Washington, DC and was responsible for the daily coverage of political and national news and political commentaries across all their 26 stations in the country. According to her, working in Washington, DC renewed her interest in politics.
In 2014, Jackson began working as a reporter and journalist for ‘NBC News.’ In her first year with the organization, she worked as a reporter at their Los Angeles bureau. After her coverage of the 2016 ‘Republican’ primary battle for the presidential elections and the rise of (the then presidential candidate) Donald Trump, she gained recognition as a political journalist.
Jackson was tireless in her reporting throughout the campaign trail and consistent in providing the details of the developments in the election proceedings. She delivered exclusive interviews with a number of ‘GOP’ (or the ‘Good Old Party,’ as the ‘Republican Party’ is commonly called) candidates such as Senator Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Senator Marco Rubio, and Ben Carson.
Jackson’s work earned her immense appreciation, and after the elections, she was appointed as an anchor of the 1pm ET edition of ‘MSNBC Live,’ the daytime news coverage platform of ‘NBC.’ In June 2017, the channel named Jackson their chief ‘White House’ correspondent. Her ‘White House’ reporting is aired through all the ‘NBC News’ and ‘MSNBC’ platforms, such as ‘Today,’ ‘Meet The Press,’ ‘NBCNews.com,’ and ‘NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.’
Jackson also fills in as an anchor for the long-running American morning talk show ‘Today’ on ‘NBC.’
Family & Personal Life
During her college days, Jackson met Douglas Hitchner, who was also a student at the ‘John Hopkins University.’ Soon, the two began dating. They got engaged in 2010. In 2011, they were married in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. Only family members and close friends were invited to the private wedding. The couple now has two daughters.
Being extremely private by nature, both Jackson and Hitchner prefer to keep their personal lives away from the media.
