Gnash is an American DJ, singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer. He was born in Los Angeles to a musician father and developed an early interest in singing and song writing. He began his career in 2015, with a series of Extended Plays. He earned considerable popularity in 2016, following the release of his song ‘I Hate U, I Love U,’ which featured Olivia O’ Brien. The song was a hit and reached the top 10 on several charts, including the 10th position on the US Hot 100 and the 7th position on the UK Singles Chart. The song was also nominated for the Radio Disney Award in the ‘Best Breakup Song’ category. His single, ‘Home,’ which featured Johnny Yukon, was also a success, reaching the 76th position on the US Hot 100. Gnash has made multiple guest appearances on the musical projects by other artistes. He was featured in the EP ‘I Think You Think Too Much of Me’ by the singer Eden.

  • Gnash started taking up stints as a DJ when he was just 13 years old. Eventually, he began producing cover songs. He turned professional in 2015 and released a series of EPs about his breakup. His first EP, ‘U,’ was released on 15th March as a digital download. On 15th December, he released the second one, ‘Me’. On 25th March, 2016, he released the third EP, ‘Us’. It reached the 46th position on the US Billboard 200, 93rd position on the Australian chart, and the 32nd position on the Denmark chart. According to Gnash, these three EPs were meant to be an emotional guide for those experiencing breakups and heartbreaks. He also released several singles, such as ‘Fuck Me Up’, (2015), ‘Daydreams’ (2015), and ‘Lonely Again’ (2017).
  • His popularity increased in 2016 after he put out the single ‘I Hate U, I Love U’ in February. The song is about the aftermath of a breakup, where both the former lovers are missing each other. The song charted in many countries. It reached the 10th position on the Billboard Hot 100, the 7th position on the UK Singles Chart, and the 1st position on the Australian chart. It also charted in Belgium, Finland, Portugal, Czech Republic and Italy. The music video of the song premiered on March 2016. The song was nominated for the Radio Disney Music Award for Best Breakup song.
  • In the ensuing years, Gnash put out singles, such as ‘Stargazing’ (2017), ‘Belong’ (2017) and ‘Imagine If’ (2018). As a featured artist, he has appeared in songs like ‘Lights Down Low’ by singer Max Schneider. The song was a hit, reaching the 20th position on the US Hot 100. He has also made guest appearances in a few albums. They include ‘Fumes’ (2016), ‘Bad 4 U’ (2017) and ‘Kiss Fight’ (2017).
