GiaNina Marie Paolantonio is an American dancer and social media star. She has garnered fame for her appearance as a contestant on the 8th season of Lifetime’s dance competition reality series ‘Dance Moms’. Originally from New Jersey, Paolantonio began dancing when she was very young. At the age of nine, she debuted on Broadway with ‘Matilda the Musical’. Later, she performed for Mariah Carey at the NBC Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting and accompanied the songstress on her ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ tour in New York and Las Vegas. She often makes dance videos for GoNoodle, helping them advocate for healthy exercise for more than 11 million elementary school children all over the country every day. In 2017, Paolantonio made her cinematic debut in ‘The Greatest Showman.’
When GiaNina Paolantonio was nine years old, she was cast as Amanda Thripp in the Broadway production of ‘Matilda the Musical’. For the next 18 months, she enthralled the audience before exiting the show in September 2016. She then worked for Mariah Carey at the NBC Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting and went to the legendary singer’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ tour in New York and Las Vegas.
She has danced as a Knicks City Kid at Madison Square Garden and a Brooklyn Nets Kid at Barclays Center. She can often be seen in dance videos for GoNoodle, supporting their efforts to promote healthy exercise for over 11 million elementary school children all over US every day. She performed along with the Big Battle Dance Crew on the Nickelodeon show ‘Lip Sync Battle Shorties’ (2018-19), where she competed for the famed “ice-out mic”. Paolantonio has been appointed an ambassador for dancewear brand Capezio. She has also appeared in the commercials for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Pace Salsa, and Simon Premium Outlets.
In the 2017 biographical musical drama film ‘The Greatest Showman’, GiaNina Paolantonio was cast as the Pointe Ballerina #5. This was her first cinematic experience. Directed by Michael Gracey, the film also stars Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, and Zendaya. While the movie received mixed reviews, it made $435 million at the box office against a budget of $84 million.
In 2019, Paolantonio, along with her mother Joanne, appeared on the 8th season of ‘Dance Moms’ with the Abby Lee Dance Company. Created by Collins Avenue Productions, the show began airing on Lifetime on July 13, 2011. In the 8th season, Abby Lee Miller and Gianna Martello served as the choreographers. Nine dancers, including Paolantonio and ten “moms,” including Joanna, took part in the season. Paolantonio made her debut on the show on the episode ‘The New Team’ and went on to appear in 19 more episodes.
