McCann started her career as a hairstylist and colorist. She worked as a stylist for six years, before making her entry into the entertainment industry. In 2012, McCann participated in the ‘Miss Essex 2012’ competition, and was crowned the winner. She was also one of the top 15 contestants of the ‘Miss England’ competition, held in the same year.

In 2013, Ferne McCann was selected as one of the participants of the reality show, ‘The Only Way Is Essex,’ which was aired on the ‘ITV2’ network. She made her debut in the ninth series of the show. The show focuses on the way the participants react to real life situations. It is a highly popular show. McCann remained a crucial part of the cast for many years. She grabbed attention owing to her outspoken and confrontational nature. In 2016, McCann quit the show in its seventeenth series, as she was unhappy with her role.

In 2015, McCann was chosen to participate in the fifteenth series of the survival game show, ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.’ It was telecast on the ‘ITV’ network. It shows a group of celebrities living in a jungle-like atmosphere, devoid of material comforts. The contestants go through different tasks involving snakes, spiders and other creatures. In 2017, Ferne McCann participated in the reality show, ‘Celebs Go Dating.’ It was a dating show aired on the ‘E4’ channel. McCann participated along with Joey Essex, and Jorgie Porter, who were her co-stars in previous reality shows. From 2017, she has featured in a documentary series, ‘Ferne McCann: First Time Mum,’ where she shares her experiences of being a single mother. The show is being aired on the ‘ITVBe’ network.

Ferne McCann has always been in the news for her relationships. She was in a relation with her co-star from ‘The Only Way Is Essex,’ Charlie Sims, for six years. She was also in a relation with George Shelley, a co-contestant in ‘I’m a Celebrity.’

McCann was in a relation with Arthur Collins, before he was arrested in connection with an acid attack in a nightclub in London. Days after his arrest, McCann announced her pregnancy, and her decision to raise the child as a single parent. On November 2, 2017, McCann gave birth to her daughter, Sunday Skye.
