Emery Kelly started his journey to stardom in 2013, when he contested on the reality show ‘The X Factor,’ season 3. Although he was eliminated during the bootcamp round, he still managed to get noticed for his talent. Judge Simon Cowell was so impressed by Kelly that he wanted him to continue on the show even after his elimination. Kelly was then teamed up with two other contestants, Ricky Garcia and Jon Klaasen, to form the pop group, Forever in Your Mind. Their team was the last one to be eliminated just before the final round.

On November 7, 2013, Forever in Your Mind released their debut single, ‘She Lights the World’, written by Charlie Midnight and Allen Copeland. The video premiered on the radio network, Just Jared Jr. In June 2014, Jon left the group and was replaced by Kelly’s cousin, Liam Attridge. In 2015, the group entered into a number of collaborations and released a few songs. In March 2015, their song ‘Sweet Little Something’ was released. It was followed by the release of the music video song ‘Wrapped Up for Christmas’ in December 2015. Also the same year, Kelly, along with his bandmates, embarked on a tour called DigiTour with Demi Lovato and other pop stars.

Hollywood Records released their first EP, ‘FIYM’, on July 1, 2016. The first single from the EP, ‘Hurricane’, had been released in April 2016. In April 2017, they released the single, ‘Smooth’. Their second EP titled, ‘Euphoric’, was released in January 2018.

In 2015, Kelly started his acting career and was featured as Logan in the TV series ‘Lab Rats.’ He was seen in two episodes. He then starred as Dax in one episode, ‘You're Not My Sister Anymore,’ of the TV series ‘Dog with a Blog’. He also appeared in ‘Best Friends Whenever’ and ‘Forever Boys’, aired on Disney Channel. In 2018, he played the main role of Lucas Mendoza in ‘Alexa & Katie’, a comedy series on Netflix. In the same year, he also starred in the film ‘Reach’.
