Dan Bakkedahl is an American actor and improvisational (“improv”) comedian from Chicago's “improv” theater troupe ‘Second City.’ He is best recognized for his roles of ‘Steve Nugent’ in the comedy–drama ‘Legit,’ ‘Congressman Roger Furlong’ in ‘HBO’s ‘Veep,’ and ‘Tim Hughes’ in the sitcom ‘Life in Pieces.’ Born in Rochester, Minnesota, Bakkedahl grew up with his six brothers and sisters. He attended the ‘Martin County High School’ and then studied at ‘St. Cloud State University.’ After graduating from ‘Florida State University,’ he began his career as part of theater groups and eventually earned TV roles. Since then, the actor has garnered immense success in his career of 14 years. He continues to entertain people with his unbeatable comedic and acting skills. A father of two, he is married to his long-time girlfriend, Irene.

Stage Career
Following his graduation, Dan Bakkedahl toured with the ‘Repertory Theater of America.’ He eventually made a name for himself at the ‘Second City’ mainstage and the ‘Improv Olympic.’ He continues to perform at various comedy venues, such as ‘Magnet Theater,’ ‘Second City,’ ‘Improv Comedy Lab,’ and the ‘Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.’

Dan Bakkedahl has appeared in supporting roles in several movies, such as ‘Observe and Report,’ ‘Welcome to Academia,’ ‘This Is 40,’ and ‘The Heat.’ In 2016, he played ‘Reverend Ray Rogers’ in the comedic film ‘Brave New Jersey.’ A year later, he starred as ‘Gamblers Anon Leader’ in ‘Battle of the Sexes,’ alongside actors Emma Stone, Steve Carell, Andrea Riseborough, Austin Stowell, Elisabeth Shue, Bill Pullman, and Natalie Morales.

From 2005 to 2007, Bakkedahl served as a correspondent of the late-night talk show ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.’ Then, until 2010, he made guest appearances in several programs, including ‘Law & Order,’ ‘The Return of Jezebel James,’ ‘The Office,’ ‘Dollhouse,’ ‘Mayne Street,’ and ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ In 2011, the actor was cast as ‘Murray’ in the comedy series ‘Community.’ A year later, he appeared in one-episode roles in ‘The Book Club’ and ‘The League.’
In 2013, Bakkedahl began playing ‘Roger Furlong’ in ‘HBO’s political satire ‘Veep.’ That year, he also joined the cast of the sitcom ‘Legit,’ as ‘Steve Nugent.’ From 2014 to 2015, he played ‘Mr. Woodburn’ in the period sitcom ‘The Goldbergs’ and also had guest roles in ‘Major Crimes,’ ‘Bad Judge,’ ‘Gotham,’ and ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine.’ During this time, he also starred as ‘Dr. Adrian Bergdahl’ in the romantic comedy ‘The Mindy Project,’ alongside Mindy Kaling, Ed Weeks, and Chris Messina.
In 2015, Bakkedahl joined the cast of ‘Life in Pieces’ as a series regular. The show was about the lives of three generations of a family in Los Angeles. Two years later, he lent his voice to the character of ‘Lucas’ in the adult animated sitcom ‘Tarantula.’
