Bahja Rodriguez is an American hip-hop singer and songwriter who joined girl musical group, ‘OMG,’ initially known as ‘The OMG Girlz,’ at the age of 12. Also known by her stage name, ‘Miss Beauty,’ Bahja, was the lead vocalist of the group. The group released singles like ‘Ain’t Nobody,’ ‘Haterz,’ ‘Gucci This,’ and ‘’Boys It’s Over.’ Rodriguez decided to work as a solo artist, after the group disbanded in 2015. She released her first solo song, ‘Jealous Type,’ which garnered over a million plays. Her next two singles, ‘Lipstick’ and ‘Next One’ received more than 400,000 plays each. Both these singles also gained more than a million views on ‘YouTube.’ Rodriguez released her first solo EP titled ‘It Gets Better’ in 2015. The EP featured seven tracks, including ‘Ride or Die,’ featuring Jacob Latimore. She released her sophomore EP titled ‘Luv,’ in November 2016. She released another album, ‘Take 3,’ in May 2018. Bahja made her first TV appearance on an episode of ‘Tiny and Toya,’ in 2009, as a part of ‘OMG.’

Bahja Rodriguez was born on August 2, 1996, in Georgia, USA, in an African-American family to John- John Rasboro and Shamra Rodriguez. She showed interest in music at a young age. Her parents took her to various competitions and events to let her explore her music options.
Both her parents are TV celebrities. Her mother, Shamra Rodriguez, has featured in many of Bahja’s covers.
Bahja began her professional music career when she was only 12. She has a younger sister, Lourdes Rodrguez, who was also a member of ‘OMG.’

Early Career
Bahja’s professional career began when at the age of 12 she joined the girl music group, ‘OMG’ (Officially Miss Guided), in 2009. The group, initially called ‘’The OMG Girlz,’ was founded by ‘Grammy’ Award’ winner and singer-songwriter Tameka ‘Tiny’ Cottle, in Atlanta.
The group comprised of five members - Reginae Carter, Lourdes Rodriguez, Zonnique Pullins, Breaunna Womack and Bahja Rodriguez. Lourdes is the younger sister of Bahja, while Zonnique is her cousin.
The group’s mission was to show that women and girls can stand together and support each other. Their first public-performance came on an episode of reality TV show, ‘Tiny and Toya.’
The band’s members also made several appearances on the 2012 series ‘T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle.’ During her association with the group, she was known by her stage name, ‘Miss Beauty.’
After the release of their first single, ‘Ain’t Nobody,’ in 2010, Reginae Carter left the group, reducing them to four. After the release of their second single, ‘Haterz,’ Lourdes "Lolo" Rodriguez too left the group.
In 2011, the group’s following increased with the ‘Scream Tour: Next Generation,’ which they did along with Diggy Simmons, Mindless Behavior, Jacob Latimore, and others. After the tour, the girls were signed by ‘’Interscope/Streamline Records’ via ‘Pretty Hustle/Grand Hustle’ for their next single.
The group released ‘Gucci This, Gucci That’ in 2012 under the new label. The single became one of the most popular songs of the group along with a few others, including ‘Where the Boys At,’ ‘Baddie,’ and ‘Boy It’s Over.’
The group announced their ‘All Around the World Tour’ with another teen boy pop group, ‘Mindless Behaviour,’ in the summer of 2013. Two days before leaving for the tour, ‘OMG’ released three back-to-back songs, ‘Do You Remember,’ ‘Incredimazable,’ and ‘Ridin' Slow.’
The group disbanded in 2015, and Bahja decided to pursue a solo career.

Career
She released her first single as a solo artist in April 2015, and titled it ‘Jealous Type.’ The single streamed over more than 1 million times within a few days of its release.
This was followed by two more singles, namely, ‘Lipstick’ and ‘Next One,’ both of which received more than a million views on ‘YouTube.’ After a critically-acclaimed song and two buzzing singles, Bahja became more determined to take her music forward.
She released her first solo EP in November 2015. The album titled ‘It Gets Better’ featured seven tracks, including ‘Ride or Die’ with Jacob Latimore.
It Gets Better’ reached at number six on the ‘iTunes R&B/Soul Chart.’ It also debuted at number 10 on the ‘Billboard's ‘Heatseekers Albums Chart.’
She released her second EP titled ‘Luv’ in November 2016.
It peaked at number 29 on the ‘iTunes R&B/Soul Chart,’ and at number 8 on ‘Billboards’ ‘Heartseekers Albums Chart.’ On December 31, 2017, she reunited with her ‘OMG’ members to perform as special guest stars during the opening act of Zonnique Pullins’ ‘The Great Xscape Tour’ with ‘Xscape.’
Their performance sparked rumours of a possible reunion but they did not reveal anything. They last updated their Facebook page on January 3, 2018, which again gave hints of a possible reunion. In the same year, Bahja released a new single titled ‘Necessary.’ In early 2018, Bahja shared the official cover artwork of her new album on social media to announce the date for the digital release of the album.
The album, ‘Take 3,’ was released on May 18, 2018, and was well received by her fans. She dedicated this album to all the strong and beautiful women in the music industry from Atlanta.
Awards & Achievements
Along with her band, Bahja was nominated for the ‘2013 44th NAACP Image Awards’ under the ‘Outstanding New Artist’ category.
Personal Life
Bahja Rodriguez is currently single. She was in a relationship with American rapper Santo August aka ‘Roc Royal,’ from 2011 to 2012.
She believes that the best thing about being an artist is ‘Being able to express yourself and being able to help other people say what they can't put into words.’
