Ashley Greene Biography

(Best Known for Her Role as ‘Alice Cullen’ in the ‘Twilight Saga’ Film Series)

Birthday: February 21, 1987 (Pisces)

Born In: Jacksonville, Florida, United States

Ashley Greene is an American actress and model, best known for her portrayal of Alice Cullen in the ‘The Twilight Saga’ series of films. She has also earned widespread fame and recognition for her striking performances in the movies, ‘Skateland’, ‘Summer Blood’, ‘The Apparition’, ‘A Warrior’s Heart’, ‘Wish I Was Here’, and ‘In Dubious Battle’. Ashley, right from an early age, displayed traits of tomboyishness and daredevilry, competing with Joe, her elder brother, in taekwondo, and even going on to win numerous awards. Her boisterous and hardihood temperament saw her socializing with girls much older to her that eventually dented her sense of worth and self-confidence. Her mother encouraged her to attend modeling classes in order to boost up her self-esteem but her short stature put paid to her dream of becoming a model. For a while, she focused on doing commercials and advertisements but later on contemplated on becoming a public prosecutor. However, after attending a few acting classes, she made up her mind, once and for all, to become an actress, and relocated to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. After struggling for nearly 3 years, performing minor roles in low-profile TV programs and films, she landed the part of ‘Alice Cullen’ following an extended auditioning process and never looked back after that.

Childhood & Early Life

Ashley Greene was born on February 21, 1987, in Jacksonville, Florida to Joseph Lacy Greene and Michele Tatum Greene. Her father, is an ex-US Marine, who now runs his own concrete business while her mother is an insurance executive.

She has an elder brother named Joe Greene who is also an actor. She spent her growing up years in Jacksonville and Middleburg, first attending the University Christian School but later on enrolled in Wolfson High School when she was promoted to 10th grade.

Ashley was daredevil and tomboyish by nature right from her childhood and tried to outdo her brother in physically challenging activities like taekwondo. She recalls being disallowed from sparring with girls in her taekwondo class as she landed heavy blows on them.
Owing to her overly outgoing and unruly disposition, she discovered that she preferred going out with girls many years senior to her. Her intermingling with elder girls greatly hurt her self-confidence and her mother got her admitted in modeling classes to enhance her flagging self-esteem.
Owing to her short height, she was discouraged from pursuing a career in modeling and was recommended to concentrate on doing advertisements. She acted in commercials for ‘Mark Cosmetics’ and Apple Inc’s’ iPod’.
She went to the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute in New York City to attend acting classes, following which she became convinced that she wanted to be an actress. She finally moved to Los Angeles at age seventeen and persevered for almost three years, accepting bit roles in films and TV serials.
