Career
Alex Gaskarth started singing pop punk songs when he was a teen. In 2002, he joined a band called Crew Fighters, where he performed cover songs. In 2003, he left Crew Fighters, and his friend Jack Barakat, persuaded him to join what would eventually become known as the All Time Low band. The band started performing cover songs of Green Day and Blink-182. Later Zack Merrick and Rian Dawson joined All Time Low and completed the band. In 2004, Alex and his friends signed their first record deal with Emerald Moon Records, and released their first extended play record—‘The Three Words to Remember in Dealing with the End.’ The next year, they released their debut studio album ‘The Party Scene.’

On April 29, 2015, Alex and Jack premiered the first episode of their podcast—‘Full Frontal.’ It is about music, pop-culture, TV, and movies. ‘Full Frontal’ became the number 1 music podcast, and peaked at the 5th position on the iTunes Podcast Charts.
In 2016, the band released ‘Straight to DVD 2: Past Present and Future Hearts,’ a sequel to ‘Straight to DVD.’ It covered the past four years of the band. In 2017, the band left Hopeless Records and joined hands with Fueled by Ramen, and launched a new song, ‘Dirty Laundry.‘
Alex has also written songs for other bands like McBusted, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Simple Plan. Till mid-2013, Alex used a number of Paul Reed Smith guitars, particularly Mira. But due to certain problems, he now uses Fender guitars, especially the Telecaster Deluxe models. He also uses Starcaster, and Gibson electric guitars.
The band’s latest album, ‘Last Young Renegade,’ was released on June 2, 2017, with Fueled by Ramen. To celebrate the release of their seventh studio album and to promote the new record, the band released some limited edition jackets based on the styles they wear in the music videos.
