Adam Carolla is an American comedian, television personality, radio personality, actor, director as well as a podcaster. He has done many radio shows which have earned him global fame and holds a ‘Guinness World Record’ for his radio show ‘The Adam Carolla Show.’ The show was distributed as a podcast and set the record as the ‘most downloaded podcast.’ Apart from his radio shows, he has appeared in, and made many television shows like ‘The Man Show’, ‘Crank Yankers’, ‘Too Late with Adam Carolla’, ‘The Adam Carolla Project’, and ‘Catch a Contractor’. He has also appeared in some films like ‘The Hammer’, ‘Road Hard’, ‘Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman’, and ‘No Safe Spaces’. Carolla has tried his hands at writing as well. He wrote a book with Marshall Fine and Drew Pinsky, titled ‘Dr. Drew and Adam Book: A Survival Guide to Life and Love’. In this book, they shared their experiences which they had faced during the making of their show ‘Loveline’. Adam’s satire and his sense of humor have been widely appreciated by the audience which make his shows very popular. However, he also kindled controversy when some of his interviews in public television were deemed sexist by many. He later tried to clear the air but never withdrew his comments.

Childhood & Early Life
Adam Carolla was born on May 27, 1964, in Los Angeles County, California. He was separated from his mother when he was very young.
He grew up into a funny guy. He listed his middle name as ‘Lakers’ in his driving license document as a joke even though he had no middle name given to him by his parents.
He was raised in the ‘North Hollywood’ neighborhood of Los Angeles, where he attended Colfax Elementary School, Walter Reed Junior High, and North Hollywood High School. He had to wait for some years for his high school diploma as he was due for a library fine.
To shift his focus away from a chaotic domestic life, Adam played ‘Pop Warner football’. In December 1981, he was named to the First Team Offensive Line, Central Valley League. This was one of the only eight leagues at the time in the LA City Section of the California Interscholastic Federation.
He briefly attended Los Angeles Valley College but later dropped out to pursue a series of jobs including those of a carpenter, boxing instructor, traffic school instructor and a carpet cleaner.

Career in Radio
In 1994, after trying a series of jobs, Adam Carolla volunteered as a boxing trainer to prepare Jimmy Kimmel for a bout, which was being staged by KROQ-FM's morning radio program ‘Kevin and Bean’. This started a long-running friendship between him and Kimmel which later turned into a business partnership.
‘Kevin and Bean’ gave him the perfect start to his career as he caught the attention of Mark Itkin and signed to the William Morris Agency to co-host the radio call-in show ‘Loveline’. The show’s other hosts were physician Drew Pinsky, formally known as Dr. Drew and Riki Rachtman.
In 2005, Adam Carolla was signed for a new morning radio show on the Infinity Broadcasting network, titled ‘The Adam Carolla Show’. The show began in 2006 and was a huge hit. Later in 2009, actor Gerard Butler studied Carolla during the live filming of the show in a bid to portray the role of ‘Mike Chadway’ perfectly in the movie ‘The Ugly Truth’, allegedly based on Adam Carolla.
In early 2009, Carolla started ‘The Adam Carolla Podcast’ on his own website which eventually evolved into the ACE Broadcasting Network. The podcast was downloaded more than 250 thousand times in the opening 24 hours. The third installment of the podcast peaked at the number one on iTunes.
Career in Television
Adam Carolla did some television shows from 1999, but he never stayed long with any project. Most of the projects he did were with his long-term friend Jimmy Kimmel. He started with ‘The Man Show’, then worked with Jimmy Kimmel as a writer for his show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ He also appeared as a guest in some episodes.
He created the television show ‘Crank Yankers’ for Comedy Central along with Daniel Kellison. He also appeared in ‘Dancing with the Stars’, partnering Julianne Hough. Starting from 2009, he has done some very popular shows like ‘The Car Show’, ‘Catch a Contractor’ and ‘Adam Carolla and Friends Build Stuff Live’.
Film Career
Adam Carolla has featured in some movies too. Making his debut in 2007 in the film ‘The Hammer,’ he later did movies like ‘Road Hard’ (2015), ‘Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman’ (2015), ‘The 24 Hour War’ (2016), and ‘No Safe Spaces’ (2017). He also did voicing for cartoons like Disney’s animated series ‘Buzz Lightyear of Star Command’ and ‘Family Guy’.

’The Adam Carolla Podcast’ was a huge success for Adam Carolla. The podcast was first shared on his personal website and was downloaded for over 250,000 times within 24 hours. It eventually became the number one podcast on iTunes in both the United States and Canada. By the second week of the show, it had been downloaded over 2.4 million times.
Carolla later on claimed on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ that the show had made a Guinness World Record for the most downloaded podcast ever, recording 59,574,843 unique downloads from March 2009 to March 16, 2011.

On March 9, 2014, his show, ‘Catch a Contractor’ premiered on television for the first time. It was a non-scripted original series co-hosted by Carolla, Skip Bedell and his wife, investigator Alison Bedell. The show exposed some crooked contractors and sought retribution for wronged homeowners.
