Burt Lancaster Filmography
Burt Lancaster is one of the most well-known American film actors. He played the ‘tough guy’ roles in some of his early films, but eventually did some complex roles and turned out to be a highly successful actor. He made his acting debut in mid 40s with the film ‘The Killers’ and went on to star in notable films such as ‘Desert Fury’, ‘Brute Force’, ‘All My Sons’ and ‘Criss Cross’.
He was getting type-cast in a certain type of role (that of a ‘tough guy’), but he didn’t like the tag and appeared in a variety of roles in several of his following films during the 50s and the 60s, such as ‘Trapeze’, ‘Sweet Smell of Success’, ‘Separate Tables’ and ‘Run Silent, Run Deep’.
He managed to win an Academy award for best actor for his role in the film ‘Elmer Gantry’ and was nominated three more times. In the later parts of his career, he did some notable films such as ‘Scorpio’, ‘Atlantic City’, ‘Local Hero’ and ‘Field of Dreams’. ‘Go Tell the Spartans’ and ‘Apache’ are known to be the worst Burt Lancaster films.
