Famous People Born In 1595

John Felton was a British soldier who served as a lieutenant in the British Army. He is best remembered for assassinating George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham on 23 August 1628. Buckingham was unpopular due to his incompetence and corruption and his murder was rejoiced in England. In 1844, the murder was fictionalized in Alexandre Dumas' novel, The Three Musketeers.

Cornelius Vermuyden was a Dutch-born British engineer who used Dutch land reclamation methods to drain Hatfield Chase in Lincolnshire. He was knighted for his work and went on to oversee projects to drain The Fens in East Anglia in the 1650s. Many places in the United Kingdom, including the Cornelius Vermuyden School, have been named in his honor.

Bihari Lal was a Hindi poet who was active in the 17th century. His work the Satasaī (Seven Hundred Verses) in Brajbhasha is considered the most celebrated Hindi work of poetic art. He studied ancient Sanskrit texts as a young man and received lessons in poetry from the famous poet Keshavdas. His works have been translated into Sanskrit. 

Robert Sempill the younger, the son of legendary Scottish poet Sir James Sempill, was a talented poet in his own right. Mostly known for his Scots ballads and elegies, he also pioneered the standard meter for Scottish humorous elegy, later popularized by Robert Burns and Allan Ramsay.

Govardhan was an Indian painter best remembered for his association with the famous Mughal School of painting. He was one of the court painters during the reign of popular Mughal Emperors like Akbar and Shah Jahan. He also contributed as an illustrator of Babur's memoir, Baburnama. Many of his works are currently located in museums around the world.
