Queensland University of Technology, also known as QUT is one of the major Australian universities providing 'real-world' focus to its students. The research university founded in 1989 is located in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Ranked within the top 10 Australian universities by the ERA, THE-WUR and ARWU, QUT currently offers education in Architecture, Business, Creative Industries, Health, Information Technology, Law and Justice, Mathematics, and Science & Engineering. Brenton Thwaites, an Australian actor who is best known for his character, Luke Gallagher in the Fox8 teen drama series SLiDE (2011), learned acting at the QUT for three years. Gyton Grantley, the lover of drama and theatre sports who was nominated the Most Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series and Most Popular Actor for the 2009 TV Week Logie Awards received his education from QUT. Peter Douglas Beattie, the most famous politician who served as the 36th Premier of Queensland (1998 to 2007) and Leader of the Australian Labor Party in that state (1996 to 2007), received master’s law degree from the Queensland University of Technology.
