Wally Kurth is an American soap opera actor, producer, and singer, who became popular for his role as Ned Ashton on the soap opera ‘General Hospital’, and as Justin Kiriakis on ‘Days of Our Lives.’ He was selected as ‘The Most Valuable Player on General Hospital’ by readers of the Soap Opera Update magazine, and nominated as Hottest Male Star by the Soap Opera Digest magazine. Professionally trained, Wally Kurth studied music and theater in the University of California, Los Angeles’ (UCLA) theater program. He formed his own band, Kurth and Taylor, which created an Emmy award-winning song for ‘General Hospital’. He has also appeared on stage in a variety of roles, one of his memorable roles being that of the Pirate King in ‘The Pirates of Penzance’. He is also associated with the Los Angeles Equity Waiver theatrical arena as an actor and director.

Career
In 1987, Wally Kurth made his debut in ‘Days of Our Lives’, an American daytime soap opera aired on the NBC television network, in the main role of Justin Kiriakis. He continued in the show till 1991, and was recast in the same role in 2009. He began starring in the series ‘General Hospital’ as Ned Ashton in 1991, a role which he continued till 2007. The series is an American daytime television medical drama, and has been listed in the Guinness World Records as the longest-running American soap opera.
He hosted his own SOAPNet show, ‘1 Day With’, in which he spent a day with another television actor. He did the show with several of his ‘General Hospital’ co-actors like Tamara Braun, Alicia Leigh Willis, Ingo Rademacher, Anthony Geary, and others. He also worked with The History Channel and narrated the series ‘Battle 360’.
Besides action, Wally is also passionate about music, and had formed a band, Kurth and Taylor, with his partner Christian Taylor in 1992. They added their high school friends Lee Beverly on bass guitar, Jim Bloodgood on drums, and Pat McCormack on guitar. The band spent seven years performing on the series ‘General Hospital’ as Eddie Maine & The Idle Rich. Many of the band’s albums have received critical acclaim from Billboard magazine. They even won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song for ‘Barefoot Ballet, a single from their album, ‘Freedom’, which aired on an episode of ‘General Hospital.’ Wally was the co-writer of the song.
Wally Kurth has also produced a documentary titled ‘Class C’, which is a feature length documentary about five basketball teams from Montana’s smallest schools, and their journey to win the state championship. The documentary was awarded the Best Sports Action film at the Jackson Hole Film Festival and The Big Sky Award at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.

Personal Life
Born on July 31, 1958, in Billings, Montana, United States, Wally Kurth is the youngest of five children in his family. His siblings are Vicki, Kevin, Sid and Brian. He grew up with a strong interest in acting and music, and studied music and theater in UCLA.
He married thrice. He married Cynthia Ettinger in 1990 and divorced her in 1993. Next he married Rena Sofer in 1995, but the marriage fell apart in 1997. Today, he is married to Debra Yuhasz, whom he married in 2003. They have one child, Brogan George, who was born on November 14, 2004. He has two other children: Rosabel Rosalind Kurth, who was born on September 17, 1996, and Meghann Kurth, born on October 29, 1985.
In 2002, he has bagged the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song for ‘General Hospital’.In 2009, he won the Best of the Festival at Fort Collins TriMedia Festival for ‘Class C: The Only Game in Town’.
