His theatrical works include plays, such as ‘The Trial’, ‘Punk Rock’, ‘Wastwater’, ‘Orphans’, ‘American Buffalo’ and ‘1984’. Talking about the recognition Sturridge has received for his acting prowess, he was once nominated for a Tony Award under the category ‘Best Performance by an Actor in the Leading Role in a Play’. He was also nominated for Olivier Awards for his performance as a supporting actor.

Tom Sturridge first acted in the play ‘The Trial’. He then appeared in the television adaptation of ‘Gulliver's Travels’ in 1996. A year later, he did the flick ‘FairyTale: A True Story’. Then in 2004, the actor did the movies ‘Vanity Fair’, ‘Being Julia’ and ‘A Waste of Shame’. Soon after this, he was cast in the films ‘Brothers of the Head’, ‘Like Minds’ and ‘The Boat That Rocked’.

In 2010, Sturridge acted in the play ‘Punk Rock’. Later he played the roles of Will Donner and Danny in the films ‘Waiting for Forever’ and ‘Junkhearts’ respectively. After this, he did the play ‘Wastwater’. Sturridge then was cast as Carlo Marx in the flick ‘On the Road’ in 2012. A year later, he portrayed the character of Phillip in the play ‘Orphans’.

Soon after this, he got the offer to play Sergeant Troy in the film ‘Far from the Madding Crowd’. In 2015, the actor appeared in the flick ‘Remainder’ as well as in the play ‘American Buffalo’. Thomas Sidney Jerome “Tom” Sturridge was born on 21 December 1985 in Lambeth, London, England, UK, to actress Phoebe Nicholls and director Charles Sturridge. He is the grandson of actress Faith Kent and actor Anthony Nicholls. He has a brother named Arthur and a sister named Matilda, both of whom are actors. Sturridge attended Harrodian School and Winchester College.

In 2011, he started dating actress Sienna Miller. A year later, the couple’s daughter named Marlowe Ottoline Layng Sturridge was born. Sturridge and Miller separated in 2015.
